TED CRUZ ENDORSES DONALD TRUMP!!!!!!!!!! – IOTW Report

TED CRUZ ENDORSES DONALD TRUMP!!!!!!!!!!

SEE HERE

This election is unlike any other in our nation’s history. Like many other voters, I have struggled to determine the right course of action in this general election.

In Cleveland, I urged voters, “please, don’t stay home in November. Stand, and speak, and vote your conscience, vote for candidates up and down the ticket whom you trust to defend our freedom and to be faithful to the Constitution.”

After many months of careful consideration, of prayer and searching my own conscience, I have decided that on Election Day, I will vote for the Republican nominee, Donald Trump.

I’ve made this decision for two reasons. First, last year, I promised to support the Republican nominee. And I intend to keep my word.

Second, even though I have had areas of significant disagreement with our nominee, by any measure Hillary Clinton is wholly unacceptable — that’s why I have always been #NeverHillary.

!snip!

Oddly, I had just communicated with 2 of our commenters before this story broke.

I said that Ted Cruz’s political career hangs in the balance, that if he did not endorse Trump, now that the race is tied, his career would be over. This is not conjecture, it is fact, everyone with an ounce of gray matter knows it, as does Cruz.

I am not saying that Cruz’s move is a calculated one, it’s the only one, unless he is retiring.

One of the emails was from Menderman, our beloved (and I mean that) contributor/reader that was placed outside the box because of what I considered to be unnecessary distraction from our mission, one that even now Ted Cruz understands.

The emails were old, relegated to the spam box, which I just saw today before this news broke.

This was the email from August 30th.

The dumbest thing you have ever done is think attacking Cruz is a way to close the 6 point gap that Trump is facing.

Cruz didn’t do it.  Your plan to blame Trumps loss on Cruz only helps the left.  Stop it.

I wrote:

Now that the gap is within the margin of error, the dumbest thing Cruz ever did was be part of a coalition that will definitely be blamed for a Trump loss when every vote is needed to stop Hillary.

You can argue the merits, or demerits, of a Trump presidency, etc.. that’s not the point.
Cruz will be blamed for a Trump loss– rightly or wrongly.
It’s just a fact.
You will not be able to get those votes back if Hillary becomes the president while Cruz sat on his hands.
You’re entitled to believe what you want. But the reality is, Cruz’s political career ends with a Hillary win.
As Hillary celebrates and the confetti and balloons drop, Cruz will be looked at, as well as NeverTrump, as the people that not only didn’t vote for Trump, they campaigned against Trump.
The commenters at the ***** ***** are now openly rooting for Hillary.
There are people saying they are VOTING FOR HILLARY.
You don’t think this crosses a line?
These people are also Cruz people.
You really think that Cruz has a future when those dots are connected?
Cruz connected those dots.
Just yesterday I wrote that the NeverTrump sphere is closing in on them. With the endorsement of Mark Levin NeverTrump was dealt a severe blow, and the “principled” wrote off Levin.
But they still had Ted.
Ted was the security blanket.
Ted is not stupid. Ted did the right thing.
If NeverTrump throws Ted under the bus, what are they left with?
Mike Lee?
If Mike Lee endorses Trump, what are they left with?

No, you don’t. Because if Hillary wins you have NOTHING.

She says immigrants have a right to enter the U.S., meaning we should have no control to who can and can’t enter this country.

She will have 1a turned over to the UN.

She will have 2a turned over to the UN.

But you have your principles, you stupid, stupid, stupid people.

Will Trump hand over our sovereignty, our protection, our right to free expression and our liberty?

Maybe. Highly unlikely.

I’m not willing to drink from the bottle marked DEFINITELY POISON. I’ll drink from the bottle labeled, “MIGHT BE POISON, BUT NOT LIKELY.”

Glad to have you aboard Ted Cruz.

Let’s win this thing!

  1. Well, that was the right thing to do, but coming weeks after the convention it looks to me that you are doing this as a last gasp attempt to save your own political skin. The six reasons given should have made the endorsement immediate.

  2. All I hear on this message board for thousands of posts is “the never Trump people” like these are real iowtheworldreport readers and posters.

Months ago all of Trump’s critics on this board (Menderman) said they would vote for him. (didn’t say it loudly) but (even) Menderman said it.

There was no way Cruz was going to vote for Hillary.

  3. Ted’s numbers have been crumbling and the donations have stopped.
    Priebus spoke with him.

At his core he is a nasty, oily coward and a snake.

signed: a Texan who will vote for Perry if he runs against him.

  4. I credit several things for this. Primarily, the announcement by the RNC chairman Reince Priebus saying “get on board with Trump, or don’t ever plan to run for President on the GOP ticket in future.” Secondly, Cruz is taking a stand against Hussein high jacking the internet naming control issue and tossing it to our enemies in the UN. Cruz knows he needs backing by his fellow politicians.Trump is on the same side as Cruz with this. And lastly, Cruz’s standing in Texas has suffered badly. You do not piss off the ones that brought you to the dance. Especially when you plan to run for the Senate again in 2018.

  5. Which just goes to show that Cruz’s strategy was stupid, immature and no one will forget how long it took and how selfish it all was in the end. I could not care less about Ted Cruz or his endorsement. I noticed EE started “rethinking” his view of Trump yesterday (see BP). I hope to God these days of fastidiously choreographed politidance is coming to an end — it is a significant contributor to voter cynicism and fatigue. Who wants to be part of such a cluster _____?

  6. The next step in #NeverTrump’s brilliant plan: If Donald Trump’s good enough for Erik Erikson and Ted Cruz, maybe Hillary’s not so Baath/Shiite crazy about him, after all.

  7. I am willing to forget.
    It’s politics.
Take emotion OUT OF THIS THING.. like I urged many others to do.

    This is BUSINESS.

    Let’s get her done.

    Good move Ted.
    You are anything but stupid.
You were man enough to admit your error.

  8. BFH I hope you spat after you typed that. The sh*t that I got on that mexicans site while I was trying to have a civil discourse was anything but politics. – Fuck em.

    Talk about dumb moves.
Scoop is a good guy. I always felt he was pressured into his rhetoric because of the mistake of handing over his site, much of it, to the immature SM.

He ought to bounce that child to the curb and become a thoughtful and reasoned site, that I know it can be, again. – bfh

  9. Fur — I am not being emotional about it. I honestly do not care about Cruz’s retarded endorsement, especially because of all the ridiculous emotion-packed hijinks surrounding it. I think all of it reveals someone who is not a statesmen at a time when the country boils over for a cool head and an eye for solutions, not amateur political stunts.

  10. “I have struggled to determine the right course of action in this general election”
-Clearly not as smart as I thought he was. I’m ashamed to say I voted for him in the primary.

  11. Okay, I will cop to some emotion. Ted Cruz and his merry band of #NT threw a gray, wet blanket on my otherwise fabulous summer and robbed us all of the sheer joy of having a winning candidate who was a delight to watch. After the convention there should have been absolutely no concern given to the likes of him and everyone in politics and punditry who filled the airwaves with their nonsense. And now I hope the D’s don’t start up with how desperate Trump must be to have to have Cruz and #NT endorsement. They will, though. All of this stupidity was completely avoidable. That’s the saddest part.

  12. Keep in mind, that the most important thing for the next six weeks or so, is ensuring that Hillary loses.

If Cruz helps, or at least doesn’t harm, that goal going forward, then fine.

Ignore him, and people like him, for the next six weeks or so, if you don’t like him/them.

This is not the time for infighting.

  13. AC — Believe me when I say that Trump voters don’t have the time for in-fighting, we’re too busy getting Trump elected. Cruz’s delayed endorsement will, however, put the whole shiteree back in play for at least a couple of weeks. Just listen to talk radio today. Ad nauseum.

  14. I agree that this was avoidable, and Cruz was a muckraker, but I do think this moves the ball in the direction it needs to be going in.

Imagine if all the people in Hillary’s commercial who deride Trump said, “you know what?”
I have no idea what I was thinking. Hillary, you are a monster, and a president Trump is like a blast of Air Freshener on everything you touch.”

How could Cruz’s statement today be anything but an indictment on Hillary?

I will take ANY and ALL legal votes from every able-bodied American, for whatever reason.
We are up against a woman who has a team mass-processing immigrants before the election, people that don’t know how to spell freedom, in order to install her.

I’m not going to look for a reason to sneer at what this endorsement can mean.
If it drags in tens of thousands of NeverTrumpers, GREAT!

I don’t care who they are, and frankly, I don’t care if they drop dead leaving the voting booth.
    I want votes.

  15. I’m voting for Trump because he’s a man. He can be a racist, xenophobe, misogynist, homophobe, islamophobe and it doesn’t matter. He gets my vote because he’s a MAN, baby!

    Equal rights, cunts!

  16. Fur, I’m sure you’re right about Scoop and I hope he comes around and brings his audience with him.
I’ll never know though, I’m no politician and do not feel the need to forgive a grudge.
My grudge list isn’t long (6) and it’s tough to get on but it’s awfully hard to get off it.

  17. Cruz did this right before early voting starts in many states. Coincidence?

Good for him and I am glad that he did finally endorse Trump. He is a smart man, but his halo is tarnished, and I don’t know if I can ever see him as President. If Trump offers him a spot on the Supreme Court I hope he takes it.

  18. Good for Cruz! Trump & Cruz will need each other to be successful especially when it comes to Supreme Court!
Maybe now we can all stop the I hate Cruz bullshit
and now go after the libertarian that has 7% in the polls and Hillary the witch.
    Good post BFH!
    Keep it classy Abigail

  19. I think it will bring votes.
Many of these people were led by the nose into becoming virulently anti-Trump, they can be led out of that stance.
I don’t see “principles” as much as I see “club membership.”
    This is their out.

  20. TO Abigail

On the Erick Erickson saga, what got me in his screed was in the first paragraph:
” I am mindful that should Trump win, the Republican establishment will blame people like me for giving rise to Trump. Likewise, I know if Trump loses, the Republican establishment will blame people like me for giving rise to Trump and Trump supporters will blame people like me for his loss.”

    What a self-centered, megalomanaical jerkwad!

    §§§

    TO illustr8r

I dunno about the Supreme Court anymore. There’s already a track record of Justices being blackmailed, and Heidi’s new job at Goldman Sachs doesn’t help.

  21. I’m glad Ted got over his butt-hurt and finally manned up and endorsed the candidate like he promised he would. I also hope it’s not too late for his political career, but he damn sure did cause some damage to it with his little tantrum.

Speaking of tantrums, if you listen carefully to the wind, you can hear Glenn Beck sobbing. (you just know that he shit himself when he heard the news) I guess Cruz will be dead to him just like Michelle Bachmann is.

  22. I liked Cruz. Disappointed by his immature stunt at the Convention, and surprised he could be so politically inept.

    Well, better late than never.
I suspect Cruz’ political market value is much diminished since Cleveland. His endorsement is worth much less now than just 8 weeks ago– both to former Cruz supporters, and to Trump himself.
As for Cruz, his future fate is no longer of any interest to me. I rank him now with Rubio and Jeb!, just another career politician.

    Trump 2016.

  23. Yes J,
My stance was always, “how unfortunate that I have to blame Cruz for this, because Cruz is asking for this.”

He was a right-wing enough guy for me to champion, not because of any other reason than I could expect him to serve my interests.

His stance caused me to not want to have to look at him any longer because he was not serving MY particular interests.
    He is now.
    Good enough for me.
Politicians are nothing but choices I make that I feel will best serve my interests at any given moment, weighed against the other choices.

I see NeverTrump as a group that was into preserving the interests of Ted Cruz, which is weird.
    Cruz just fractured that.
Now, maybe, they will be a little more reflective of what will best serve their interests given the BINARY (ugh) choice they have at the moment.

    It’s all one can ask.
    Who cares about Cruz, personally?
He’s only as a good as he can be as my servant in the here and now.
He was letting me down. Now he’s not.

  24. This is great! I was so hopeful he would do the right thing at the convention… then he put his hurt feelings ahead of country. So disappointing. This doesn’t make up for it – I still think he’s an asshole! But it is gratifying to know he gets it and I do think it will have a unifying effect.

It’s going to be a glorious news weekend! The bar is open… who wants a drink?!!! 🍻

  25. Had to go to Redstate to see the slit wrists and rending of clothes. They are all claiming to be with Hillary. Hopefully, when they get to the booth a brief moment of sanity will come upon them as they pull the lever for ….TRUMP

  26. @BFH September 23, 2016 at 5:13 pm

    > I will take ANY and ALL legal votes from every able-bodied American, for whatever reason.

    DEPLORABLE!!

If the dead; undocumented; Hollywood schizophrenic; two, three, and four times as smart as you, so their votes should be counted more of-ten; and cyber-synthetic voters happen to also be illiterate; blind drunk; palsied in perfect health; trying to get even with both their moms; or hacked by Josef Stalin (who’s also fine, and at least as smart as Al Gore!) – then how DARE YOU disenfranchise their votes for Trump!?

  27. I have been disappointed (to put it lightly) that Cruz had not endorsed Trump, up ’til now.

Cruz made the right decision for the right reasons.
Cruz has a role to play as a US Senator to help Trump counter the mccains, grahams and other establishment RINOs and recover and revitalize this nation.

I much prefer Cruz as an ally, he has an opportunity to be a valuable asset to Trump, the Senate, and this nation.

Cruz is not corrupt, inept or an enemy, that would be Hillary.

  28. My sentiments exactly
“Cruz is doing exactly what he pledged to do. His reasons for endorsing Trump are clear and it has nothing to do with “self promotion”. The reaction from the Trumpsters is exactly why I am so upset that I feel like I am being forced to vote for someone I consider an a$$hat. Couldn’t you guys just for once show an ounce of class? Is it really so hard for you to behave like decent human beings. I’m going to vote for Trump because the alternative is Hillary but I won’t ever forget what really terrible people his supporters are.”

Before diehard Trumpers get their wanties in a wallowing wad let me reiterate:

I’m going to vote for Trump because the alternative is Hillary but I won’t ever forget what really terrible people his supporters are.

Don’t get cocky Trump, from now on only you and your diehards are to blame for what happens in this election.

  29. As much as I want to believe Cruz was square, I can’t help but wonder if he intended to do this all along but stretched it out for whatever reason…drama, leverage, whatever.

But…this part is done now. Any (R) who now still won’t vote Trump was voting for Clinton no matter what. Bet the bank on that.

  30. I haven’t liked any of their choices since Reagan, but I voted for them down the line anyway ’cause I got a brain. When the GOP is in the control I prosper. I’m barely hanging on after 8 years of this crap…things are worse than the Carter years!
Even if the Republicans ran a bag of hammers or a pouch of puppy poop…..they got my vote and they should get the vote of anyone that cares about our survival.

  31. Good!

The timing is better than I thought it would be. I was an avid Cruz supporter for a solid year until 01/16 when I began to reexamine. I’ve gone into the detail before and won’t repeat. In March I chose to support Trump. I am voting Trump in November because I want him to be President and not simply to avoid having the Shrew in office.

Thanks Ted for keeping your word on this issue.

  32. I read Cruz’s statement, found it to be thoughtful and well reasoned and I’m glad he did it.

But please do not deny me my schadenfreudefreakingtastic goodfeels over the insane and execrable Glenn Beck’s “profound sadness” and his plan to go wander off into the mountains in the aftermath of Ted’s boarding the Trump Train. And please let me be happy for a little bit about the fact that the vicious #NeverTrump shitpickles who have said awful things about the TDS-free voters are now shitting bricks.

I am happy to welcome anyone who will vote for Trump but please allow me to enjoy the seeing the splatter of the splodeyheads who still disparage me and my kind while they continue to try to sabotage The Donald. Thanks!

  33. Susan, I supported Cruz at the beginning until the unpleasantness at the convention. Plenty of people who supported Trump at the beginning never said anything awful to me or about me. Do you understand? For every mean thing you saw a Trump person post, I saw double the bullshit from Cruz supporters towards Trump supporters at the Right Scoop, among other places, so go use your big assed paintbrush somewhere else . Can you say with a straight face Cruz would be 100% Conservative as president and not fuck up in the slightest? STFU. And I mean that in the nicest possible way.

  34. Well I am ashamed I ever backed Cruz now. I truly thought he was a man of principle. If Trump wins I wonder how many of you will make excuses for him when promise after promise never happens starting with the wall.

  35. TrueLIES, don’t DESPAIR!
You’ll *always* have the Right Scoop, RedState and Resurgent
(not to mention your Renegade Party)
to b!tch, moan and whine at.
    Why don’t you start…like…RIGHT NOW.

  36. I am guessing you will be the first to make any and all excuses for Trump no matter what promises he does not keep Czar. And it ain’t my renegade party because politically I do not align with the Bush types and secondly I am voting for Trump because I have decided one piece of crap is worse than the other piece of crap. I just do not expect the piece of crap I am voting for to keep any of his promises but just be another Bush like president. I just want to know if any of you Trump supporters will actually admit it when he is failing to keep is word.

  37. Good move, Ted. My dream scenario: Trump becomes president and whenever he wants to get something done he goes straight to Cruz for senate support, making McConnell The Frightened Turtle irrelevant.

By the way, Mrs. Curtain adds, “I guess this means Glenn Beck is drinking again.”

  38. “If Trump wins I wonder how many of you will make excuses for him when promise after promise never happens starting with the wall.”
If Trump wins and builds a wall, what say you?
