A Smith & Wesson revolver that once belonged to former President Theordore Roosevelt sold for $910,625 at the Rock Island Auction Company’s December Premier Auction.
Then-Col. Roosevelt received the weapon on May 12, 1898, a day that coincides with his departure for San Antonio to train with the Rough Riders for eventual combat against Spanish forces in Cuba.
“Firearms with presidential ties are highly sought after and extremely difficult to find,” Kevin Hogan, Rock Island Auction Company president, said at the time of the sale. Continues
Wonder how much Joe Biden’s shotgun will bring?
Probably less than retail.
That’s pretty cool. Where was it all of these years?
The MAN was/IS a real ICON.

Was watching a couple of other items in that one, but sure as hell not that one.
Two other auctions went off this last weekend locally and surprisingly much of it went below estimated value. Some of the single action armies didn’t even reach their reserve.
Usually the reverse is true with items being bid up past their value.
I surely wouldn’t be interested in it, but different strokes for different folks. My good buddy has rifles that belonged to Frederick Selous and other of the more famous African hunters. I guess they are worth a fortune today. I’d rather have something I could shoot. I have another buddy who bought a three inch Smith Model 27 sight unseen and it’s un fired and absolutely mint condition. He said he doesn’t know if he’s going to shoot it. Said it’s too nice. He’s going to put it in his safe and buy another one to shoot.

If I own it, it’s gonna get shot. And if I don’t feel the need or desire to shoot it, I sell it. And buy something new.
Teddy Roosevelt’s revolver fetched about $540, in the form of money Teddy would’ve used, $20 gold one ounce coins.
I told Ted to hold onto that Smith.
Don’t need any “Gun Safe Queens”. If I have it, I’ll shoot it.
That’s what they’re made for.
