Texas Governor Leading Insulin Manufacturers For Conspiracy to Hike Drug Prices

BLP: Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton recently filed a lawsuit against leading insulin manufacturers and pharmacy benefit managers concerning an alleged conspiracy to raise insulin prices.

Pharmacy benefit managers are third-party companies that play the role as mediators between drug manufacturers and pharmacies.

Per the attorney general, insulin manufacturers allegedly hiked insulin prices and subsequently paid undisclosed parts back to PBMs to be featured in the PBM standard offerings. PBMs then bestowed preferred status to the manufacturers who make drugs with the highest listing prices, thereby spiking insulin prices significantly. more

  1. Wait, you’re suggesting that Big Pharma and their friends are not OUR FRIENDS?

Looking over the changes in our supplemental plan for 2025 we were “shocked” to see our costs going up along with lessening benefits. You don’t suppose Big Pharma has a piece of the action in the insurance carriers do you?

And the assistant programs for free insulin are closing or lessening the ability to get enrolled.

  2. Oh but the best part about it is looking at your bottle of insulin and thinking, “You know, once this bottle is empty, I’m dead in a few hours if I can’t get/afford another one.”

Been there. Twice. And I’m not a senior and I qualify for NO gov or manufacturer ‘programs.’

  3. GoB, I remember a few weeks ago the Kamala ads were bragging that she “capped the price of insulin at $35”, then a couple of weeks later, that was walked back to “capped the price of insulin”. And now her ads don’t even mention insulin. I guess all these walk-backs are part of their “New Way Forward”, while they’re cutting the new ads which say she’s “fighting to cut the price of insulin back to $100”.
