8. I used to go to my Mom’s nursing home and play the piano there. Most couldn’t talk any more due to Alzheimer’s but as soon as I played some show tune they knew, they would sing the words. Eyes wide, faces lit up, singing and tapping their toes like the years – and their afflictions – didn’t matter.

   A better celebration involves music for old people.
