The ATF Comes For a Guy’s Forced Reset Trigger

  1. Michael Cargill, a gun store owner in TX. already has a bump stock case going for the same issue he stated – ATF can’t make law, that has to go through Congress. The Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals invalidated the ATF’s bump stock ban and held that Congress, not the ATF, declares what the law is. The gov has now appealed to SCOTUS. That case may determine how this end up (arm brace ban as well).

  2. As bureaucratic underlings go, these badge-wearing tyrants were actually pretty reasonable, no heavy-handed threats of arrests or illegal searches.

This is how it’s going to go; slow and steady chipping away at the Second Amendment, with each breach measured for effect to determine how far the people can be pushed without reaction.

  3. This has only one purpose – to “trigger” someone into resisting and causing a firefight, so they can use it as an example to apply midnight raids and confiscations.
These ATF people should rethink their role in this. They are being put out there as expendable sitting ducks.

  4. Were they going to pay him for taking something that was previously legal? The government cannot just “take” something without due compensation.

However, we all know that the Second Amendment is not the only part of the Bill of Rights the government is after. It’s just that the others will be a lot easier after the Second is out of the way.

  5. It really bugs me how they send a perky woman to try to catch the guy off guard.
If they’re being too nice like that while trying to violate your rights and be tyrants.

  6. @Cmn¢¢guy — As for retroactive laws, there have been a few — but damned few. Article I Section 9 prohibits Congress from passing ex post facto laws.

But what the scumbags at BATFE are trying to do is get around that by using the CFR, the Code of Federal Regulations, instead of a Congress-passed U.S. Code law.

There are a few promising challenges to this whole regulaltory setup pending SCOTUS action. Keep your fingers and toes crossed.

  7. Notice their tactics. 1) Try and get the guy to admit that he had the trigger assembly. 2) Tell him he is not in any trouble. 3) Offer him the option of lying to them (a crime) by saying he sold the trigger assembly. Had he admitted he had it, or lied, he likely would have been immediately arrested. The camera guy handled himself well, but could have also reminded them if their oath to protect and defend the constitution. Not that it would have mattered. And where did they get the receipt for his purchase? The gun store? The credit card company? That is the most chilling aspect of this whole scenario.

  8. This guy handled himself well. The ATF has no charter and no Congressional authority to do what they are attempting to do.

They don’t make law, and if they took a sworn oath to the Constitution they were actively and willfully breaking that oath.

The 2nd Amendment doesn’t give the people any rights to keep and bear arms, the 2nd Amendment was put in place to PREVENT the government from doing what it’s trying to do with these two agents.

…and I’m sorry, but a plate carrier ain’t gonna help you in a firefight when a pissed-off public starts retaliating. Most of us can’t shoot for shit and a proper leg wound can bleed you out in under 4 minutes or less.

” Most of us can’t shoot for shit”. LOL, pretty sure you can. I’m hitting the fuckers in both eyes so they can’t find there way to the Fed spirit world. Channeling the Searchers.

  10. “Also, there is no such thing as a retroactive law.”

Wrong. Bill Clinton rammed though a law making anyone EVER found guilty of DV, even a petty misdemeanor, unable to possess a firearm. 1,000s of LEOs across the nation had to take desk jobs or retire.

  11. i would have liked to see their birth certificates. it is well known law enforcement is now being manned by foreign invaders. its all about if you recognize their authority. If they cannot prove they are stand up citizens then do not recognize. first strike was showing up. second strike making appearance armed and armored. third strike leading conversation to incriminate. fourth strike attempting to convince they are not there to commit robbery but know you have something we want and no we are not going to pay for it. interesting he maintained interviewers eyes to the sun. never too careful when the law shows up. that’s why i live behind a locked gate, has saved me a ton of time and trouble. the male sat his hands on his plate when the conversation went south. posturing tells all. he also did the perp walk telling he is not onboard, he probably doesn’t consciously know and lives his life in denial, just follows orders. i like how the owner tried to make the interviewers self aware. he planted the seed.
