The case of the absent lawn signs

Patriot Retort: Okay, yeah. That headline sounds like I’m Nancy Drew. But, this is a bit of a mystery.

Oh, by the way. I voted!

I got to the polling place just after they opened at six. New York does not indulge this Democrat debacle of early voting. So I knew if I didn’t get there at the buttcrack of dawn, I’d end up standing in long lines.

And Lupus hates standing in long lines — hates it, my precious.

I was frankly surprised at how many people were at the polls at six in the morning. When you consider my polling place is just around the corner from Syracuse University’s sports complex, you’d think early-rising voters would be sparse.

Come on. University students hauling themselves out of bed to vote at six?!

But I wasn’t the only one doing it early to avoid the lines.

Don’t get me wrong. There were no lines. I got right in and out. But there were at least a dozen people already at the polls at ten after six.

Now, here’s the mystery.

As I drove through the intersection of Comstock and East Colvin, I saw not one single lawn sign anywhere.

This is the intersection by Manley Fieldhouse. Ordinarily on every previous election day, it is blanketed in political signs. Of course 99.9% of them are for the Democrats. It is a university neighborhood after all.

And there was nothing. Not one lawn sign.  MORE
