  1. This has been coming for some time. Pilots can only stand so many G’s, which limits the maneuverability of today’s aircraft. Just think – if current trends continue, eventually when a war starts you’ll be able to push a button, then walk away and let the machines duke it out.

(That is, until AI makes them self-aware and they figure out that they can just wipe US out instead and take over the world. Thus we will have played our part in the inevitable evolution of the ultimate life form. But that’s a long way off, and we can still have fun killing each other in the meantime.)

    😛

  2. what Aleon said.

You can bet the Commie Chinks are beavering away, figuring out how to hack into our drone systems and UAV systems. It will be an unpleasant surprise for the Navy to see one of their UAV’s bomb the shit out of the carrier it took off from.

Here’s another consideration – look at the sea-state in those clips. They were testing that puppy when it was calm – max 10-15kts and no large swells. Try that shit when it’s blowing a gale and the flight deck is wet, dark, pitching and yawing and the UAV pilot will be fucked.
