I’ve seen Americans being pretty boorish at Chinese buffets over the years, but this recently released video goes to a whole new level of gluttony.
Shot in Bangkok, it purports to show a group of hungry Chinese tourist loading up on the shrimp.
Folks, it’s a buffet, they’ll bring out more. Meanwhile, why not try a few vegetables while you wait? You’re colon will thank you later.

To counter, Thais are claiming that the Chinese left food scraps on the side of the road in Switzerland. So take that!
I have seen similar behavior at Las Vegas hotel buffets – by all types of people
I have heard stories of Chinese doing awful rude stuff, embarrassing their American born coChinese to death. Like stripping the lemons off decorative lemon trees where they went for a medical conference. Couldn’t let it go…
As far as buffets…it was the Mexicans filling trays with shell fish. Shell fish that I wouldn’t touch. Who eats that stuff at a buffet?
The one special at almost all you can eat buffets is the lard ass special. I occasionally eat at a very good local Chinese buffet but in moderation. They have good sushi. I’m getting too old to pig out anymore. And Golden Corral forget about it, that’s just way too much temptation and food to eat in one sitting. I’d also feel like a pig at a trough during feeding time. If this was in Roman times they’d have a vomitorium out back of the dumpster, I hate puking.

And don’t forget the annual 4th of July Nathan’s hotdog eating contest. I don’t know how anyone can eat that many hotdogs in an hour. My kids and upand at least one of them still watches it every year. Watching it makes me want to gag or watch the barforama scene with Lardass AKA David Hogan from the movie Stand By Me.
@pboid” Oh yeah, the Mexicans wiped out one Chinese buffet restaurant here, and the other one can barely stay open. They’ve raised their prices to where the Mexicans can’t afford to bring their children to eat with them, but they sure do get their money’s worth.
However, the worst are on cruise ships. Saw one Chinese woman take a big bowl of fruit salad from the buffet line. She took it to her table for 8 where they all dug in with their chops sticks. The chef came out and told them it wasn’t allowed. They have no manners and are the rudest people on board. It’s always “me first” with them. I’ve scraped a few heels when they try to get in front of me. 🙂

@Jethro: Yep, witnessed it at the casino. They bring them in by the bus loads from San Francisco. They carry big bags with them. Their first plan of attack is the buffet. They stuff their bags with fried chicken. Security is called on them and they have to empty their bags at the exit. The casino even had to hang signs up in the restrooms “No grooming Allowed.” No paper towels either in the restroom as they would take all of them from the dispenser and stick them in their bags to take home with them. Free coffee and soft drink dispensers were removed due to cups disappearing, sugar and creamer. If it isn’t nailed down they take it. It makes it bad for those who act civil.
And here I thought we “Ugly Americans” we’re supposed to be the pigs on the world stage. I guess we’ve been supplanted by the “Ugly Chinese”.
My husband worked with a Chinese guy who was so cheap he lived in one room of his house and never heated or opened up the rest of the house so it rotted. And he lived on spaghetti and bottled sauce and other cheap stuff. He was a trip, and wondered why his wife left….
