The Media Wanted The Nigerian President To Address Trump’s Alleged ‘Sh!thole’ Comment

Daily Caller- Nigerian president Muhammadu Buhari appeared in a joint press conference with President Trump at the White House Monday.

When a reporter asked about Trump’s infamous alleged “sh*thole” comment, both Trump and Buhari refused to take the bait to divide them.

“I want to ask you, you’re the first leader from sub-Saharan Africa to visit president Trump here at the White House,” the reporter said. “Did you address his reported comments from earlier this year when he reportedly used vulgar language to describe African nations?”

Buhari responded by saying he doesn’t even know if he believes the media reporting on Trump’s comment. watch

  1. I remember The Guardian lamenting that journos were having trouble getting traction with “shit hole” because they couldn’t translate the idiom. Nobody outside the Anglo-sphere cared about this D.C. obsession anyway.

And why “alleged comments” and “reportedly used vulgar comments”? I thought this was settled science. If it’s just fake news, let’s call the comments “unverified”, like the Dossier.

  2. So this reporter immediately assumes that the shit hole comment referred to sub-Saharan Africa.

That is a pretty big racist assumption to make, right off the bat. As far as I know, shit-holeness can be found world-wide.

  3. If it was me, I’d answer back with a volley of “Are you saying my country is a shit-hole! Why are you racist American press always saying my country is a shit-hole. Have you, disgusting person you are, ever been to my country?”
