On an April episode of “The Joe Rogan Experience,” the host used a slur within the first 45 seconds of the show.

“The word ‘retarded’ is back, and it’s one of the great culture victories,” Rogan said with a laugh in the April 10 episode of his über-popular podcast. “Probably spurred on by podcasts.”

A few months earlier, on January 6, Elon Musk used the word in response to a Finnish researcher who called Musk the “largest spreader of disinformation in human history.”

Use of the slur more than doubled on X, the platform Musk owns, in the two days after he made that January post, researchers from Montclair State University found. More than 312,000 subsequent posts made on X in that span contained the r-word, wrote co-author Bond Benton, a professor of communication at the New Jersey university. More

  3. Retard wasn’t a slur it was a description of someone who was behind the time. As many words can devolve into slurs this is just another one. I worked many years in place with the now known as the mentally handicapped. It was fascinating to observe that the biggest insult they would use on each other was “Your Special”. I always laugh at this during the Special Olympics.

  9. To say one is “mentally challenged” is retarded.

    As a kid, our school had a special ed, retarded and spastic wing. And that’s what we all called them, spastics and retarded. The spastics were actually smart and funny m(cerebral palsy, etc.) – and good kids. And we never made fun of the retards because we realized it could have happened to us. Not funny. Not their fault.

    If you have ever seen a set of Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Gauges, they are BLUE for the Cold Pipe & RED for the High/Warm pipe.

    The Blue gauge is on a much lower pressure scale where the last 10% of the dial actually says “RETARD”. (prevents damage if you put it in the Hi pressure side)

    Jokingly, every instructor ever said it is to tell you you’re retarded because you FKD UP!

  12. GM – Same here. If you were a jerk, you got the business, but being disabled is another thing altogether and we knew it. Also keeping them separate reduced the odds of things like that happening, but they were able to get the attention that they needed without impacting or holding back the rest of the kids, which is only common sense.
    Mainstreaming special kids today does them no favors and considering the malicious Left it is being used just another tool (Catering to the lowest common denominator) to hold back kids who want to learn, lower standards and introduce chaos.

  14. Wild Bill, the school logo for the Orofino, Idaho HS Maniacs is a stick figure spaz having a seizure. They are called the Maniacs since the HS is located next door to a state mental institution. It is probably the most politically incorrect but hilarious logo for a HS in the US outside of the Richland, Wash. HS Bombers whose logo is an atomic mushroom cloud.
