“I just don’t like the guy,” said former President George W. Bush of Senator Ted Cruz, according to reports of a meeting Bush had with donors not too long ago. The 43rd president went on to add that he believed Cruz was an opportunist running for president for personal gain, unlike his sainted brother, who is a true public servant.
Shortly after the report came out, “Bush’s brain” Karl Rove continued the attack on Cruz, saying, “I do know that President Bush has expressed some — on a number of occasions — a little bit of astonishment as to the attacks that Ted made on him. For example, [he] went out of his way to attack his appointment of John Roberts. Yet at the time of the appointment of John Roberts, Ted Cruz was a personal friend of John Roberts, wrote a strongly positive piece about him … said that both John Roberts and the man who appointed him, George W. Bush, were strong, dependable conservatives.”
This is all a bit hard to swallow.
Rove acts clueless as to why John Roberts is up near the top of the conservative blacklist, but the grassroots knows it is because Roberts did not faithfully interpret the Constitution when it came to Obamacare; instead he rewrote the law and kept it alive.
So if what G.W. Bush and Rove both say is the reason they don’t like Cruz isn’t the real reason, we need to look at the history of Bush and Cruz. That history, from the waning hours of the Bush presidency,to today’s primary shake-up and the downfall of Jeb Bush, is fascinating. See more
Doesn’t explain why W. was siding with the illegal alien invading rat-people, but sounds plausible.
This possibly?

Calling the kettle black George?
W. was staying classy as a former POTUS by just keeping a low profile.
I happened to like the way he brought the war to the muzzietards and would forgive him on all the other stuff.
He needs to keep his pie-hole shut on this. I will not vote for Jeb. If were going to get Hillary lets get the full tamale, or rather, the Hillary without the tamale and not some watered down tyranny version of Hillary.
establishment republicans, rove and gw bush wish to maintain power, influence, relevancy and control through little brother jeb.
Cruz has shown he’s a conservative time and time again, breaking away from the failed policies and strategy of boehner and mcCONell who have led the establishment republicans to support obama’s socialist agenda of obamacare, immigration, decimation of the military, planned parenthood, etc., etc.
Cruz even went to the podium in the Senate to call out mcCONnel as a liar when he cut deals with harry reid and obama after he told the GOP caucus he didn’t and wouldn’t.
Cruz Vs. Jeb ????
CRUZ without question or reservation.
W can go piss up a rope – he cannot say anything bad about Obama be he can about Cruz? As the libs used to say F W
So mad I cannot type straight – “… about Obama but he can…”
That’s why Trump is the answer
I thought it was because Ted Cruz doesn’t like reptiles.
Insightful and right on the mark.
Cruz has to work with and around reptiles like mcCONnel, mccain, bernie sanders, lindsey grahm, elizebeth warren, dianne feinstein and harry reid, but he doesn’t have to like them.
Cruz needs to sit ON the bench, not stand before it.
Who the hell can straighten out the mess that Barky has created? It sure ain’t gonna be Hillary, who helped make the mess. Everything her and Barky touch turns to shit.
Bernie Sanders? Take the next flight out to Russia and don’t come back, you communist.
Ted Cruz for president! so smart, so ethical, so patriotic!
Great article. Makes sense to me. Jeb should pull the plug right now. I’m in for Trump, Cruz, Carson and maybe Carla.
Good article.
However, I might add I happened to catch a few minutes of Rush today where I was able to hear his theory of the Bush family.
He believes the Bush family has a long history of never attacking Democrats, and frequently attacking Republicans when they aren’t good ole boys n girls from the Establishment Country Club. In that theory it’s more that just a grudge between W and Ted.
In essence I believe Rush was saying the same thing as Mark Levin.
That the GOPe-ers in office, leaders such as McConnell, fear the conservative population more than they fear the Democrats.
So to keep their sorry south ends in federal office they side with the Democrats to retain power. Believing, probably correctly, that if they give an inch, a conservative flash flood with him and sweep them and their GOPe pals out of office.
The Bush family is happy hanging out in the Establishment Country Club with all their pals. Ted C, pals, and supporters are seen as the anti- Dutch Boys – ready to punch holds in the dike, and sweep the GOPe out to sea. So they can get started leading the country back to it’s fundamentals, not trying to fundamentally change the country.
Excellent insight Blink. Kudos!
Recall how W’s friend prosecutor charged those tow border agents for doing their job and left them languishing in prison for years until the end of his Presidency.
G.W. very much disappoints me with these statements against Senator Cruz. He should save his criticism for the DemCong and stay out of the current Presidential contest.
I voted for shrub but I don’t like him!
If George had any legacy left with Conservatives, it’s gone now.
Anyone notice how the MSM DID NOT REPORT THIS BACK THEN? No one said anything about the administration performing an end run around us and trying to get these vermin out of jail so they could kill again?
Yep. Ramos and Campion.
Here’s the scoop on them:

OT but OMG that puppy avatar. *squee!*
I like Jen Kuznicki, but I kept expecting to see another name at the end of that article. Beck detailed this whole explanation on the radio two days after the news hit.
