The Rickshank Redemption – Season Three Episode One of Rick and Morty

Some claim the Lego’s Movie was Conservative, others use to get their sip of Conservative storytelling from the pop culture firehose by watching Duck Dynasty.  I’m telling you now that Season Three Episode One, of Rick and Morty is Conservative entertainment at its finest.

Rick and Morty started out as an Adult Swim parody of the “Back to the Future” franchise with a genius grandpa who takes his grandson Morty on amazing adventures across infinite dimensions.  By the end of season two a galactic empire of insect like overlords has forced Morty’s family into planetary exile in their effort to run down and arrest Grandpa Rick. Realizing that his family is suffering because of his actions, Rick turned himself in so that the galactic empire would let Morty’s family to return to their earth, now taken over by the empire.  That’s were the new episode picks up from.

Besides having to break himself out of the galactic empire’s prison, Rick must also contend with the Citidel of Ricks (infinite universes means there are infinite Ricks and Mortys, who have organized themselves into their own protective union and force renegade Ricks to join or die.)  Okay, hopefully that’s enough background to make sense of  the new episode.

I just watched it again for the third time (and finally getting all the jokes I missed the first two times).

Rick and Morty has been on hiatus for two years. Cartoon Network has been showing season one and two for the last few months, so you can set the DVR to record and catch up or buy it at your favorite retailer or find it at your local library. The new season will start sometime this summer. Adult Swim ran “The Rickshank Redemption,” the first episode of season three, yesterday as an April Fools promotional.

  1. This is the best modern cartoon ever made. Since Bugs Bunny.

Rick And Morty explores Physics, science, astronomy and philosophy at a “street” level. Watch any analysis video you can find.

    One episode hilariously trashed Collectivism.
