The US Army is re-considering ‘gender-neutral’ fitness tests

PM: The US Army is now considering major changes to the three-year-old Army Combat Fitness Test, which is currently ‘gender-neutral’.

We had this big thing of inclusion but this is one of the biggest eyesores that goes against inclusion,” commented a source from inside the Army to the Daily Caller.

According to the Daily Caller, Congress has at this point ordered the Army to stop performing the ACFT, pending further study.

One slide obtained by the media read:

“We know there is a physiological difference between men and women. The Army has to account for this and remove the competition between genders or Congress will never allow ACFT implementation.” more

  1. The most common trope that the left plays on is the misguided notion that the military is one big “boys club”, segregated and protected against females of all abilities and that the only way for real change is a complete dismantling of the system then a rebuild with gender and equity paramount.

Anybody that has been in the military (and LE for that matter) knows that is complete nonsense. A successful mission with everyone coming back alive is the goal, regardless of who leads it.

The best partner I ever had was a woman, worked with her for 3 years while in LA. She was Hispanic, fluent, bigger than me (probably 6-2, 240lbs), was dedicated, conscientious, calm in demeanor but damn good in a fight.

The problem is that when administrators manipulate the process (lower the standards) to affect a particular outcome, like increasing the numbers of women and minorities, to the detriment of safety and cohesion. I’ve seen this happen in both the military and LE, it weakens morale and infects the stability of the unit.

The IDF is a good example of how women, through merit and ability, can successfully integrate into the military. Of course, their situation is a bit different; they have zero civilian interference and their very lives depend on a harmonious co-existence wthin the sexes.

Are you sure? You seem to be spending a lot of time and money pretending otherwise.

Dang Rich? WTF? I’ve boxed, wrestled through school, street fought, and basically only came out on top. And it wasn’t strength, or even skill, that got me there. It was wind. Endurance. The ability to breath though intense physical combat. A 240 pounder Hispanic female. Exactly what was she fighting? A God Damn doughnut. You’ve officially jumped the shark and sound like politically correct Sergeant Major I’m a Fag. I’ve always valued your input here. but that’s over the top.

  4. Yeah, she was a big girl, but not obese, not a real looker either. I doubt she could run very far but could handle her own. I liked working with her because she was a bit intimidating. Only saw a few drunks try to resist her while cuffing, she would just body slam them to the ground.

    I don’t know if you remember this;

She had a close cousin that was one of the victims, really tore her up.

  5. @ Rich

How much of that 240 lbs. was Mexican food bulge?

General Custer’s wife had seen many Indian women on the Great Plains, and thought the Indian women were stronger looking than the Indian men because their arms were bigger. A lot of women have sagging upper arms because of natural fat, but they can look really big. The Indian men were a lot thinner but had lots more muscle, I believe. Bigness does not always imply strength.

  6. Does anyone think that pure blind anger can give a person extra strength?

I’ve thought it possible, but I’ve never gotten that angry at anyone initially, or if I did, it was later after some perceived slight or insult. Maybe that’s a good thing, and kept me from facing assault charges.

When I experience it, if feels like a damned 5 level hurricane inside. Anybody else feel that?

Let me help you out here buddy. Blind rage, everyone else calls that Adrenalin. It’s good for about 90seconds and then reality sets in.
No, size nor fat equates to strength.

  8. With crap like this: “Congress has at this point ordered the Army to stop performing the ACFT, pending further study”, China’s PLA will be a tough customer to deal with.

US General to a group of new female recruits: Ladies, are you all nice and comfortable in your quarters? Any problems, my door is always open.

Girl Soldier #1: Sir, my pillow is lumpy.

General: Oh, we’ve been working on that…all of you will get down feather pillows…in fact, you will each get 2 pillows.

Girl Soldier #2: Sir, will we be allowed to wear make-up when we go into combat?

General: Why certainly you will, and By the way, please refer to me as Timmy, that’s what my mommy calls me.

Girl Soldier#3: Timmy, we would all like to have vegetarian rations…eating meat makes us aggressive and too manly…we like being feminine.

General: Of course, of course we can do that, I’ll have the Quartermaster General get right on it.

Girl Soldier #4. Timmy, can I ask you a personal question?

    General: Please, go right ahead.

Girl Soldier #4: Are you gay?

General: Indeed I am…how did you guess?

Girl Soldier #4: Well you are wearing pink boots and you have a rainbow flag patch on your uniform.

General: I live right here in one of the barracks with my husband…you wouldn’t believe the bare asses we see every night. We stand next to the showers and watch them come out….so much fun- we usually start giggling!!! I could lived off-base but there are so many handsome men on base. Can’t let them go to waste.

  9. Rich Taylor, as an ex-cop, I totally disagree with “The IDF is a good example of how women, through merit and ability, can successfully integrate into the military.”

There are vastly different standards and protocols in the IDF for women, and they are mostly akin to a police force that goes home to sleep in their comfy beds at night. They aren’t deployed for long periods around the world.

Women should not be in out combat forces, period, for MANY reasons, including that: the BEST women can only make it equivalent to the lowest quadrant of men; that women’s physiology gives them orders of magnitude more stress injuries and medical issues; that women’s psychology renders them emotionally different under fire (okay for defense, bad for forward aggression); that multiple research studies show that mixed forces underperform; that morale, fraternization, and cost issues are just not worth it.

The best part about the ACFT was that at the least it culled out the majority of the weakest women (and some men) from the combat MOS.

  10. It seems to me that one segment of society ought to be spared from the horrors of combat just to keep society civilized. My wife was there for me when I got back, I couldn’t imagine if we had both been there.

  11. It’s funny how common sense has become controversial.
Men are different from women? Huh?

Sort of like the debt “ceiling” (that is raised every year) the Armed Forces “requirements” don’t require anything.

Let’s all play pretend! Pete Buttigieg could whip Andre the Giant’s ass!
    Like in a movie!

    We’re pathetic.

    izlamo delenda est …

  12. Janitor, I don’t know how my comments got turned around to support women in ALL combat roles, of course, that’s nuts, and I agree totally with your above comments. I only brought up the IDF because they have been struggling with this conundrum since their inception, going from women doing everything to women in no combat roles, to now where they are allowed in the majority of combat positions. They had to integrate because they are the only Western nation that drafts women in fairly equal numbers to men.

This more egalitarian view, women’s hide is no more valuable than a man’s and their responsibility to the defense of the home nation is of equal measure, is refershing and so far removed from the woke positions our leaders adhere to.

  13. No doubt the armed forces of potential enemy countries are following the same ‘pandering to snowflakes’ agenda, right?
Why even have a standing army of cotton balls?
    Oh, wait, was that racist?

  14. Rich Taylor,

Thank you; maybe I misunderstood you, or just am too sensitive to the decades-long touting of “women in the Israeli military”.

My d-i-l was one of the top athletes at Annapolis. She’s 5’11, a super-marathon runner, 90+ pushups in 2 minutes, fencing team capt., etc…. and wouldn’t he able to hold her own for a minute against her big “not-an-athlete” husband.

I know of eight girls at this point, Academy grads — that’s just who I know, accidentally — who dropped out of the military (were ALLOWED to) before their commissions were up. Millions of wasted dollars.

The only reason I wouldn’t say “no women” belong in the military is that we do have a bad recruiting problem finding enough fit boys these days, and there are plenty of jobs, including piloting, that women can handle as well as men, save for the maternity leave readiness issues or being captured. But then again, it could be argued that it’s also “not fair” that men in the military now have a more difficult time getting assigned these non-combat jobs if they want them because women seem to get preference.

    2
  15. Thanks, janitor, I’m sure your D-I-L would be the first to call these new gender-specific percentile goals as lunacy and counterproductive to combat readiness. Going from destroying America’s enemies to destroying equity barriers, poison.

I’ve commented here before about my own experiences in LE, where unfit unqualified women were miraculously passed through wrt weapons, driving and
arrest techniques in the academy, all to satify a quota the adminstrators deem acceptable. The acrimony and rancor that results within the squad and the doubts that result when the unfit hit the streets and are now your beat partner, it just adds more stess to an already stressful job.
