There’s a video out there of Nancy Pelosi describing the “Wrap-Up Smear.”

That’s when you start with a lie, you push the lie until it is picked up by the press, then you use the press report to validate your original claim.

“See!?! It’s in the papers!!!”

Here’s theĀ  video Doc sent me where Pelosi is describing the technique.

Here’s the video where a bint “debunks” the Pelosi video by saying this is Nancy describing what the rightwing does.

Uh huh.

Sounds like Nancy is very familiar with the Wrap-Up Smear, describing it in a way that sounds like she’s intimate with the process, even acknowledging that it’s all “just politics.”

Do you think for one moment that a technique that has an insider nickname, one that sounds like it works pretty well, is hands off on the part of the left?

lololol.

Also, who has big media in their hip pocket, the right or the left?

Please.

  2. What she’s describing isn’t a wrap-up. A wrap-up is what you do at the end of a process so that everything’s tidy when you go on to something else.

    Feeding a lie to the newsies, and when the newsies publish the lie using the story to “validate” the original lie would be much more accurately called a wrap-around smear.

    And that’s why I believe it is a leftie ploy. They’re more likely to give it a stupid name then the righties.

  11. Its bookend is the “Wrap-up Dodge”, whereby a politician claims to have learned of his scandal only after reading about it in the newspapers. And again, only one party does it, two assholes in particular.
