These People Need to Be Pointed Out and Laughed At

Health authorities in France have raised alarms about a dangerous new social media trend that promotes the creation of temporary “tattoos” through deliberate sunburn.

The French Minister for Health and Access to Healthcare, Yannick Neuder, issued an alert about several social media trends promoting unprotected sun exposure to produce sharply defined tan lines — known as “sun tattoos,” “burn lines,” or “tan lines.”

The social media trends discussed by Neuder were mostly promoted through English-language videos. They involve skipping sunscreen to achieve very defined tan lines or encouraging people to draw a pattern with sunscreen to create a lasting impression, similar to a temporary tattoo. More

  1. There seems to be a growing consensus within the medical community that the sunscreen is damaging and the sun is beneficial. Maybe, just maybe, the sun/skin cancer connection is a sunscreen sales pitch?

  2. They’re French, what else would you expect from the cheese eating surrender monkeys. My younger brother had a very definite tan line where his whitey tighties were in the summer. He was tanned everywhere except for his white skin where his underwear were. My aunt caught him and one other brother and my cousin running around their farmhouse with little if anything on and told them to put some clothes back on. She was blind as a bat and couldn’t see that at least he was wearing his whitey tighties.

  3. Grew up in the 50s & 60s in NYC not far from the beaches. Saw a few teenagers who would use Band-Aids to spell out a boyfriend’s or girlfriend’s name or nickname and after a day in the Sun would peel the Band-Aids off to reveal a lily-white monicker.

  4. WHICH people need to be pointed out and laughed at?
    The tanners?
    Or the “doctors”?
    (to me, they’re both idiots)

  5. A guy I know went on a drunken float trip in the Ozarks, and when he returned, he had a half moon burned on his forehead from wearing a ball cap backwards all weekend. It’s the most ridiculous sunburn I’ve seen.
