Arby’s offering venison sandwiches through November.
Sandwich made with deer meat will be in 6 states –Â Georgia, Michigan, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and Wisconsin.
The Arby’s venison sandwich will feature venison steak, crispy onions and a juniper berry sauce on a toasted roll.
The unique offering makes perfect sense to Arby’s Brand President Rob Lynch. “Hunters hunt the meats, and we have the meats, so it makes sense for us to connect with them and offer a sandwich that they can’t get at any other restaurant chain,” Lynch said in a press release.

Funny how life works. I was just talking to Miska Simpson last night and learned that in some countries, particularly in the southern hemisphere, all game meat is called venison, not just deer meat.
Venison might not be my first choice for wild game. Moose on the other hand, and I’m not referring to Moochelle, is pretty damn good.
This is just a wild guess, but you could probably bet more meat from a 1500+ pound moose, than from a 200 pound deer. [sarcasm]
I prefer ground venison or in sausage. It’s a very lean meat that doesn’t taste like beef.
Now, if it was wrapped in bacon and grilled over an open campfire on the Rapidan River……….
Make it BISON and count me in!
I had the beef brisket at Arbys last week. The bread was good but the meat was disgusting. That’s all I need to know about their venison. No thanks.
I run a charter service for people in the south who want to hunt deer and elk in Pa.
Ever hear of Elk County?
I live in the South and have 50 to 100 regular customers that sign up for the big hunt.

The commercial from a few days ago is classic. It was on Youtube for a few days but then taken down (wonder why?). It’s still here but maybe not for long.

Script:
“If you think about it, the woods is really just a big salad. And like any salad, you grab a rifle and rummage through all the foliage and green stuff in the search for meat. It’s meats season at Arby’s.”
where’s the beef??? sorry wrong commercial.
I love deer meat. Never had moose. If moose is as half as delicious as doe, I definitely would love to try it. I wonder how Arby’s is intending to get it’s hands on enough deer fill these sandwich orders.
If you want it without the nitrates and nitrites, you have to go out and shoot it yourself. Their deli meats are loaded with that stuff.
I’m waiting for my son to bring over some deer hamburger meat this weekend. Good stuff.
@ Quinn – LOLOL. I saw that! It played in Las Vegas, probably twice. 😀
I like Arby’s Gyro sammich.
Never had deer meat/ venison, whatever. What’s the flavor and texture?
Availability varies depending on the number of accidents…
It actually sounds like it might be a decent meal:
“will be made with free-range farmed deer that feed on fresh grass with with premium cut top and bottom round steaks from the hind quarter. ” – dailymail
And I just talked to my son — he’s bringing the deer meat Friday. 🙂
Caribou please …
Up here in Michigan the city of Ann Arbor is preparing to off 100 deer from the city limits,..Coincidence?..
@MJA, a lot of the taste depends on how you prepare it and how it is cared for and processed. It’s usually a little sweeter than beef and it’s leaner than beef. Try it in a burger some time. After eating deer burgers, beef hamburgers won’t taste as good.
Some people have to try it a few times to get used to it.
Deer jerky is great too. Everybody ate deer back before fast food.
I just ate venison steak for dinner. Yum!
I killed and butchered it myself.
Deer? You’re way off. Think smaller. With more legs.
“Venison” use to refer to any mammal killed when hunting. Deer, being the more popular game animal, took on the main use of the word now.
@Jethro, I always like to hear about your deer hunting. Kudos.
Hanoverfist. Rapidan River is a tell. You are south of me, I live next to a hill. You can probably tell me how to grow tomatoes, eh?
