They’re just not into you

Smokeroom: The WNBA has finally found a foolproof way for people to show up and care.

All they have to do is simply show men’s sporting events immediately following the WNBA game. How do I know this strategy works? The Washington Mystics got 18,000 people to show up for a Thursday game because the Washington Capitals Stanley Cup game was being broadcasted afterwards on the jumbotron.   MORE

  1. I love women. I truly do. But was never interested in watching them bash their opponent. Yes I liked my daughter’s to succeed in sports. But not a career. And I have enjoyed women’s single tennis. That is the one great women’s sport! With the women it’s not just the power it’s the spin and the power.

  2. The only people that care about the WNBA are the players.

    And their parents.

    And their wives.

Not even the owners/management – it’s virtue signaling on a massive scale, and a tax write-off.

  3. I’d like to see women’s sports get the attention and funding that it deserves, in other words, I’d like to see most women’s sports go away, especially women’s basketball.
    Womens basketball is just gross.

  4. What I’d like to see is a midget basketball league, the MBL. Make it more difficult to score a basket. No player over 4’8″. That would make a difference in the final score. Instead of games with scores like 110 to 100, they’d be more like 15 to 10. Each basket scored would mean so much more than it does now.

  6. Never saw the attraction of viewing team sports, paid millions to play a game.
    Meh
If they relied on people like me, they would have to have a second job, just to afford rent.

  7. I played organized hoop through high school but wasn’t good enough to play in college. I would play against heralded women players at the local Y, one a top Pac-10 center, another a member of the Canadian national team. I was surprised that even as a shorter player (5″ 8″) I could easily dominate them both physically and with my superior shooting. Now that I’m old and fat when I see clips of the WBA I think “I could still get a sex-change operation and be a star in that league”.
