Chris Nikic, a 21-year-old triathlete from Florida, has become the first person with Down’s syndrome to cross the finish line at an Ironman event. For those of you that don’t know, that’s swimming 2.4 miles, cycling 112 miles and running a 26.2-mile marathon. More

Seeing as how I would have had “down-for-the-count” syndrome after a few hundred yards of the first leg, that is a great story! Always good to hear positive news.
What a magnificent achievement. That is the equivalent of climbing Mount Everest in a handstand!
When I used to raise Labradors I would take the dogs to a school that had people of all ages who had down’s syndrome. The dogs knew how special those folks were and hated to leave.

My oldest turns 20 tomorrow. All 4 of mine have Autism – #2 son has an MR diagnosis as well – but they’re good little eggs. Can’t believe #1 son is finally 20, though…
