Three Girl Scouts Killed In Hit and Run

Dressed in fluorescent green safety vest, a group of Girl Scouts and their adult supervisors were picking up trash along County Hwy P in Lake Hallie, WI late Saturday morning when a black pickup left the road and struck them.

The driver steered his vehicle back up onto the two-lane road and sped away.

Two of the scouts and an adult died at the scene. Two survivors were air lifted to Rochester, MN, with one expiring at the hospital. The injured survivor is in critical condition.

The driver, 21-year-old Colten Treu, has been arrested and is expected to face four counts of “homicide through the negligent use of a vehicle.” More

  1. A dear friend and his family live there, and his daughter is in the 5th grade at the same elementary school. This will be a very painful period for the people of Lake Hallie. Please keep the families in your prayers.

Turpentine in a thermos during the game. Only redeeming quality of this guy is he owns a Ford, a Chevy would have rolled.

  3. I bet he was on his phone.
We just had an accident in our area where a kid about the same age caused it by being on his phone.
So much stupid out there. Heartbreaking.
