Three US Citizens Held by Venezuela – Accused of Being Part of CIA Plot Against Maduro

BBC

The United States has dismissed claims made by Venezuela that the CIA plotted to assassinate President Maduro and other top officials.

Three US citizens, two Spaniards and one Czech national have been arrested on suspicion of plotting to destabilise the country, the Interior Minister said.

Calling the detainees “mercenaries”, Diosdado Cabello claimed that the CIA “is leading the operation” and that hundreds of weapons had been seized.

The US rejected the claims, which come after Washington placed 16 senior government officials under sanctions, as “categorically false”.

  1. It’s hard to find any good guys in this situation. On one side, you have people involved in regime change, sanctions, assassinations and stealing elections. On the other side, you have people involved in regime change, assassinations and stealing elections.

And how is it that Venezuela’s government can deal with Americans allegedly behaving badly in their country, but our government basically lets Venezuelans run amok here?

I’m having trouble finding any sympathy for these Americans arrested in Venezuela.

  2. One of the things that the Navy rated me for when I enlisted was intelligence work because I have an above average IQ, I told them no thanks and left it at that. I did have a very smart friend who had 4 years of HS Russian who did do intelligence work for the Army. He was also a genius at chemistry and physics who worked at Sacred Heart Medical Ctr. in Spokane doing all sorts of lab work for them for many years. My wife also worked in the lab at Sacred Heart but in a different dept. and learned all her skills by OJT over the 30 years that she worked there. It drove her supervisor nuts because she didn’t have a BA, but she had more practical hands-on experience than most college graduates.
