BigJournalism:Media giant Time Inc. has announced it will lay off as many as 300 workers in an attempt to cut costs and restructure the company — a move that CEO Richard Battista has described as “difficult but necessary.”
The decision comes amidst falling levels of circulation of some of the company’s key magazines such as Time, Fortune and Sports Illustrated.
As part of the savings, the company will now focus on investing in growing digital markets such as video and paid subscriptions.

I sure won’t miss Time magazines carbon footprint. Newsweak is gone, Time will be gone, soon. Hopefully the NYT and WaPoop will die as well. Add the LA Times, too.
Paid subscriptions won’t work because a customer has to see value and Time hasn’t been able to show that for decades. Soon Time will be reduced to selling those specials on space travel or the oceans or whatever as well as music compilations of CD because the magazine will be have folded. Too bad to. Time used to be centre-right (slightly) while Newsweek was Centre-left (slightly) and both were a decent reads. Now Newsweek is gone (sold for one dollar and made the rounds of leftish companies for awhile and got purchased by IBT media who atarted a small run print edition in 2014) and Time is just leftwing propaganda. I’ll bet it will go from weekly to every two weeks to internet to gone.

When TIME goes under, Time-Warner will have the expense of a name change.
So I think they’ll keep some vestige shell of TIME operating. Even if it’s just one ex-Huffpo chick aggregating or commenting as a Blog.
