What if the President were to revoke Congress’ exemption from Obamacare? Perhaps it would light a fire under our representatives to repeal it. All he has to do is order the Office of Personnel Management (OPM)to withdraw recognition of Congress as a small business.
That’s right, to avoid Obamacare, members of Congress went to the OPM and had themselves declared a small business by claiming that both the House and Senate individually only employ 45 people apiece.
The longer this falsehood is allowed to go on the more it hurts the credibility of both Congress and the Presidency.
But isn’t the President himself exempt from ACA?
Do it right now! And while you are at it make trading on insider information illegal also. And another thing…….
“Congress enjoys an illegal exemption from Obamacare”…..what do they not understand about the meaning of ILLEGAL…
Require congress and all dependents to receive all care from the VA.
Indefinitely.
“All Federal laws and regulations shall apply to all citizens and residents of the United States, nor shall laws and regulations have different effects on different citizens and residents. Any citizen or resident accused of a breach of any law or regulation containing exemptions or differential treatment shall have a positive defense in trial, all legal costs incurred by the defendant shall be paid by the legislative or regulatory body responsible for the law or regulation.”
What’s sauce for the Elite is sauce for the Mundane.
One question.
Why wasn’t this done in the first 100 days?
Do it now.
Do it now.
Do it now.
Here’s the facks: Trump, for all his talk, needs the co-operation of the swamp denizens in order to get his legislation passed. So realistically speaking, the chances that he will do this are exactly two:
Slim, and none.
Should have been done the minute he took office.
The slimey, sleazy, scumbags of congress exempt themselves, frequently, of the laws they pass. Plus THEY decide when they get COLA raises and I guarantee it isn’t the .003% the military got. The 27th amendment keeps them from raising and receiving raises within a session, but COLAs don’t count.
I’m just about to the end of my rope with the slow draining of the swamp!! Also the circuit judge appointments!! Come on, President Trump. I know he has been busy, but COME ON, now.
Take that whole list of exemptions and invert it: all who were exempt should be FOREVER allowed no insurance except an unsubsidized version of obamacare, and everyone else is free of it.
And why is congress not at home 7 months of the year, at a real job, instead of bothering my ass with bullshit all year? They don’t know how to use SKYPE?
If anybody has a load of cash they don’t need, this is one of many, many laws that appear to violate the equal protection clause.
Hire a boatload of lawyers, and have at it.
“All animals are created equal, but some are more equal than others”. It’s not just for Communists anymore.
“All members of Congress must prepare their own tax returns. By hand.”
Instant tax reform!
Congress should no longer be able to exempt themselves from ANY of the laws they write.
I don’t know, MJA. Still sounds like too much. Maybe a little closer to what Texas has.
The Texas Legislature meets in regular session on the second Tuesday in January of each odd-numbered year.[1] The Texas Constitution limits the regular session to 140 calendar days.
140 days. Every other year.
Not only that but how about a Sunset Advisory Committee for whether to continue all the agencies?
The Sunset Advisory Commission is an agency of the Texas Legislature that makes recommendations to the Legislature on whether to continue various state agencies.
How much could we save there? Jillions! And all those never-ending bureaus could fade away.
The Texas Structural Pest Control Board was deep-sixed by that advisory commission when they started messing with each other’s businesses. The board had at least one business owner on it and rivals started getting harassed by state inspectors and fined for ridiculous things.

We can, at least, dream of something like this.
Damn. I wondered what happened to the post. It disappeared on me. Sorry for the double post. You can see I was almost done with it the first time.
Hopeless.
Nice thought, though.
Trump ought to do this with the ‘Budget Crisis’ ‘Government Shutdown’
“I hereby declare that all offices of Congress shall be shut down. All Congressional salaries shall hereby be declared null & void. All Congressional staff salaries, all Congressional prerequisites, such as travel, postage, parking, etc. shall be rescinded. Congress shall hereby be defunded, as long as Congress willfully does not submit a Budget, as lawfully declared in the Constitution of the United States of America.”
Quit pussyfooting around!
@MJA, Dadof4: Here in Texas, we don’t want them meeting any more than they have to, because we believe in the following adage:
“No man’s life, liberty, or property are safe while the legislature is in session.”
Now is not soon enough. Revoke all of them, or
they revoke obeymecare.
