CBS 58 Milwaukee conducted interviews with the mayor of Port Washington, Ted Neitzke and Comedian, Charlie Berens. The mayor is all gung ho for an $8 billion AI data center coming to his town. Charlie’s not so sure, but he definitely doesn’t like the way the town government seemed to ignore the concerns of citizens and approved the project with groundbreaking next month.
The report was broken into two halves. I’m posting the videos and the write ups separately.
When the citizens start giving kickbacks to the politicians things will change.
Until then things will remain the same.
Where are they going to get the power?
Get ready for astronomical power bills at home, rolling blackouts for everybody, and it will be blamed on “grid-hacking” by China, Russia, etc., instead of a lack of foresight in planning and building new power plants.

We ate never going to bring back manufacturing here, as long as we are beholden to this AI bullshit and the regulatory stranglehold which keeps us from building new power plants.
AI is going to destroy us, not by replacing human intellect, but by sucking all the stable power generation into its goddam data centers. And the power utilites love it because you and I, with our pesky human spikes and sags in energy demand, will be put on the back-burner of solar, wind and whatever is left over after the data centers take their cut.
Data centers are for storing all your data from using your pc.
Little or no “AI” involved.
The key thing to keep out in front and visible is that AI is Artificial.
So when we’re all in data center reality (jail) just like gun control, they’ll come after our books because that’s where the truth will still survive!

This all started when the buggy industry and the horse wip industry got decimated by the evil automotive industry. I believe it was the founder of Mercedes said in 1896 that there was NO WAY automobiles could be mainstream because do so you would have to pave millions of miles of roads. NO WAY that could be done. Today power plants have fixed capacity and there is NO WAY POSSIBLE to increase that capacity. It can’t be done!
The A.I. shit is what will replace the “woke” shit when it wears off. And all of the data that “A.I.” collects (and makes up) WILL be used against us.

I would imagine this thing is going to draw power from across the upper Midwest and raise rates from Michigan to Minnesota.
The suffering will be shared so Mayor Neitzke can get his 100-150 more jobs for his city. I’m not sold on that being a great tradeoff for the rest of us.
Data Centers should be self-supporting. Many of them are building their own power plants to support the massive power demands. There is just not that much available overhead in the grid and it should not be burdened or jeopardized by excessive power demands. Data Center Power should be dedicated overhead, owned and operated by the Data Center that is factored into whatever product they are creating.
