Tomi Lahren Says Overturning Roe V. Wade Would be a Huge Mistake

So-called conservative commentator Tomi Lahren recently aired (or should I say erred?) her opinion against overturning Roe v. Wade, the 1973 landmark Supreme Court ruling that forced states to legalize abortion until birth. Pro-lifers have been trying to topple the ruling for 45 years, but Lahren says it would be a “huge mistake” to press for overturning it by appointing a strict constitutionalist Supreme Court justice.

“This president is winning for the American people on the economy, foreign policy, and tax reform,” she said. “These are areas that benefit all Americans regardless of religion or social beliefs. If we continue to focus on these things and immigration, we’ll sail into 2020 with all three branches in our control. That’s how we get things done for the American people, that’s how we win,” she said, declaring that “we lose when we start tampering with social issues.”

After taking heat for this on social media, she tweeted, “Who are you to tell me what I should believe in? Who are you to tell me what my moral fiber is made of? Who are you to tell me I’m not ‘conservative enough?’ It’s THAT mentality that turns people to the Left. You can disagree with me but don’t you dare tell me how to think.”

  1. If Trump’s “Right” can be tolerant (to a degree) of homosexuals, I don’t have a great deal of heartburn with anti-Life “Right” people…not that I agree with her (or homos) about their positions….

    But, yeah, Trump has a way of getting folks to expose themselves for who they are (e.g. #NTers).

    In either case, I’m glad *I’m* not like them…lookin’ forard to seeing RoeVWade in the rearview mirror!

  2. This is the one issue where women think the opposite sex has no place in disagreeing with their choice. They see it as strictly theirs and theirs alone to call the shots. Yet in a courtroom they have no problem seeing a man forced to live with their decision and burdened with equal or greater responsibility without a say.

  3. Never have quite trusted her so I don’t really care what she says. I do know that it has always been the establishment elitists who are fearful of going near so called social issues. As if killing people you don’t want is a social issue. Bringing up abortion when there is no case before the court is only going get the left’s panties in a twist. She’s only helping them along by not talking about current legal battles going before the court.

  5. The constitution contains no reference to abortions. Unless a Harry Reid clone can find some convoluted phrase to twist and contort again. Abortion, whether right or wrong is not or should not be a binding supreme court decision. Each state should make their own decisions according to the wishes of its voters. I would suspect that a 25 states for and 25 states against would be the outcome.
    And why are the screeching harpies on the left bring up a case that is not under consideration by the supreme court? Hysteria is not a tactic but an example of how insane liberals have become.

  6. I find it extremely irritating when people claim the Constitution doesn’t matter–the issue was wrongly decided and has to stay that way. Lots of people will be affected! I don’t give a damn. Go by what the Constitution says, and if a decision was incorrectly decided long ago, then correct the mistake, come what may.

  7. I think the roe v. wade decision is a living decision that evolves over time and needs modification. If they simply make it so that only black people can abort babies, the lieberals will have no problem with the change, because lieberals are the most racist, misogynistic and vile people on the planet.

  11. @Racer X, my cousin’s Canadian husband asked my husband once why the Constitution matters because it’s only words on a page. Funny coming from a business owner whose wife is also a business owner. Are all those contracts you two sign also just words that mean nothing?

    The founding documents are logically consistent with each other.
    How can the Declaration be for Life, Liberty,
    and the pursuit of happiness,
    and the Constitution be for death?

I think Tomi is thinking strategically about the near-coming mid-terms and how utterly important it is that the Republicans claim more crucial senate seats in order to make the next legislature one which will pursue the president’s agenda. Nothing more than that. As soon as conservatives start in on Roe V Wade and abortion, it’ll stick to them like a tar baby and there goes the debate involving jobs, economy, trade and everything else that has voters jumping on the Trump Train. To make the discussion about abortion — at this critical time — is exactly what the Left excels at. They know how to stall conservative momentum.

    Mzz Lahren uses typical leftist talking point, “How dare you” to shutdown opposition and deflect from the fact a child is created at conseption. The mother is a carrier of a viable individual, not an appendaged part of her body. It take a man and a womsan to create a baby and the father has parental rights.

  18. AbigailAdams, that scenario would have been true if Obama was still president, but it’s a new day. President Trump’s momentum is resulting in victories for pro-life candidates. Washington RINO elites are going to have to deal with the pro-life momentum.

  19. One of the big sticking points in the decision was that the point where life begins could not be determined. As Justice Blackmun wrote, “We need not resolve the difficult question of when life begins. When those trained in the respective disciplines of medicine, philosophy, and theology are unable to arrive at any consensus, the judiciary, at this point in the development of man’s knowledge, is not in a position to speculate as to the answer.” (emphasis mine)

    Man’s knowledge has come a long way in the 45 years since Roe v. Wade. We are closer to answering that question than ever before. Unfortunately, SCOTUS seems to have no interest in finding out the answer and settling the debate.

    If SCOTUS wants to uphold Roe v Wade, so be it. But they must understand that they are upholding a decision that was based largely on medical science that is approaching half a century in age: technology that existed before VHS and BetaMax.

  20. The Roe v. Wade issue is a red herring – it will be years, if not decades before that decision is overturned, if ever. And the particulars of Roe v. Wade can be changed legislatively, although this would require that members of Congress grow a spine.

    I would be happy of the Justices of the Supreme Court quit legislating, which is what they did in Roe v. Wade. For example, in Roe v. Wade, the Court could have found a Constitutional right to privacy, and then thrown the abortion issue back to the states or Congress to determine when, if ever, and under what circumstances abortion would be legal.

    The left knows that they cannot “fundamentally transform” America if they are required to work through Congress or state legislatures – they need the judiciary or a corrupt and incompetent President like Obama who picks and chooses the laws he will enforce or legislates through Executive Order. I want to see the courts decline to legislate and act in accordance with their Marbury v. Madison precedents.

    The answer is: there is no left-wing agenda without abortion. At the very core of what leftist want is the complete destruction of responsibly. You want to skate board all day and smoke pot all night but you also want free food and a place to call home? No worries the left will give you free stuff. You want consequence free sex but you don’t want to bother with using silly pills or condemns? No worries, the left will allow you to murder your baby. (if it ain’t a baby then your not pregnant- am I right?).

    Abortion is just an expression of progressive thinking. Eat, drink and be merry because there are no consequences for any life choices anyone makes.

    I personally see it as modern day Ba`al/Molech worship. I fear things are going to get much darker before the sun starts to shine. What most people don’t understand is if Roe & Casey get overturned the worst case is the question of abortion will go to the states. So states like Nebraska, Texas & Idaho can make it near impossible whereas states like Pennsylvania and New York can welcome all the Kermit Gosnells of this country has to offer. Just imagine all the little shops of horrors where silly things like a medical licences are not even required that will spring up. Then let the Andrew Cummo run for POTUS with that anchor around his neck. What we need is clarity on what abortion is and who is for it and what that actually means.

  22. TN Tuxedo, 45 years ago I know you couldn’t find out you’re pregnant as soon as you can today. Heck today they have over the counter sticks that can tell you you’re pregnant the first day you’re late on your period.

    45 years ago they didn’t have doppler that allowed you to hear the heartbeat as early as 6 weeks. Today you can buy a doppler over the counter and find the heartbeat yourself that soon.

    I think their question of when life begins has been answered that it certainly doesn’t begin at 12 weeks and certainly not 40 weeks. Technology has allowed all to know without a doubt the stages of a baby’s growth in the womb, so how in the world anyone can question that is beyond me.

    People are evil, only those who are evil could be fine with ripping a baby into pieces or stabbing a baby in the back of the neck or crushing his/her head.
