My neighbor has a leg lamp. It goes into the window at Thanksgiving time and gets moved over just enough to center their Christmas tree to the window. It cracks me up every year.
Of course, it’s “a major award!” 🙂
Grew up on Lake Erie east of Cleveland. Been to the Christmas Story House. I watch that “stupid”/fun movie every year. Now I am indoctrinating my kid so she too will be addicted..Shot at many a bird in my back yard in those wonderful early years.
My neighbor had his leg lamp up last Christmas too, but never took it down. It’s been by his window all year. HAHAHA.

Too cold here to go to the range in the winter, so I have fun standing on the porch or in my dining room sliding doorway, shooting icicles off the wide eaves of our home – with our Daisy. During the summer I shoot soda cans stacked on the picnic bench seats from our front porch. Doesn’t get much better.
I’ve taken out a few flower heads with it also.
Hadn’t seen this before…thanks !!
He was a very funny guy, and the movie was brilliant.
RIP.
I think I posted this before but here’s a link to a site with hundreds of Jean Shepherd’s old radio shows:

Thanks, Birdie!
Thank you for a very enjoyable 45 minutes listening to Jean Shepherd this morning. And where else you could you hear the word retarded in a commercial on WOR New York in those pre politically correct times. I was first introduced to Jean Shepherd’s work from an old issue of Mad Magazine #32, April 1957 of which I dug out this this morning from my collection of old Mad’s, The Night People vs. “Creeping Meatballism, with illustrations by Wally Wood. I love Jean Shepherd’s work, all of it including A Christmas Story and The Great American 4th of July shown on PBS’s American Playhouse back in the early 80’s and available on Youtube and his other stories and movies. Maybe it’s because I’m a child of the 50’s and 60’s and can relate to these stories because Christmas was a lot like this when I was kid as well and a good heavy dose of exagerititis helps as well. You made my morning , thank you. And who else but a nerd would still have all my old issues of Mad magazines, Humor in a jugular vein from 1955 Mad#25, Sept. 1955 thru the 60’s and up to mid 70’s.
Great American 4th of July (and other disasters) not on TV anymore because of the Nazi references. Too bad, Great show.
17,000 Wash Cloths!
From Mrs. YY Flertz of Fishigan, Michigan of course.
