Top Mexican Official Says Trump Can Easily Get Mexico To Pay For the Wall

TRN-

“The wall is a perfectly feasible promise to fulfill,” said Jorge Castañeda, Mexico’s secretary of foreign affairs from 2000 to 2003.

The man who held the same top diplomatic position in Mexico as Clinton did in the U.S., dismissing a Mexican Senate move to block payments to a Trump administration for the wall as “silly,” Castañeda offered up several ways for Trump to find the money, as the Washington Examiner reported:

“If he really wants Mexicans to pay for the wall, he has many ways of getting many Mexicans to pay for the wall, increasing the fee for visas…increasing the toll on the bridges..taxing remittances,” he said at the Hudson Institute in Washington.

Trump and his allies, like Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) have specified these exact same methods, which Clinton has said “can’t possibly happen.”

  1. Just skim three of every five dollars being sent home to Mexico by wire, but don’t announce it.
You will have it paid for before the next quarter is up
We could then probably afford to install Taunting Towers for US citizens to enjoy and laugh from.

  2. Over eleven million illegals are depleting the welfare, health and education systems – resources we pay for through our taxes – they are not all Mexicans. If only half of them are deported (or self deport when they see we have a real leader) then those funds, currently being wasted, will pay for the wall. We will gian back the funds and those illegals will then be a drain on their home country (Mexico primarily) Their loss and our gain means THEY are paying for the wall.

  3. @Doug — Oh stop it! You’re going to cause ‘splodey head syndrome with all your fancy math. 🙂

(Some people need charts, graphs and a Big 4 accounting team to be convinced.)

  4. Visas fees from Mexicans? I’ll be we issued at least two or three visas last year. No, a tax on wire transfers to south of the border would be the best way to do it….no way Western Union is paying the tax, they’re just the collection agents.

  5. The wall is projected to cost between $8 and $12 billion. Remittances to Mexico are about $25 billion per year.

A 10% tax on remittances alone, would pay for the wall in about 3 to 5 years.
