According to Iranian official media, a missile engineer in the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps was assassinated last week. Said Thamardar Mutlak was killed in Shiraz last week. He was referred to as a “shahid” (martyr), a title reserved for individuals who are slain in the line of duty.
According to Iranian media, he was buried at the “martyrs grave” in a Shiraz cemetery.
It is claimed that state-run press in Iran was told to minimize Mutlak’s murder and that his family was urged by officials not to publicize the news of his killing. Because Mutlak was a “top engineer in the IRGC’s missile program,” Iranian opposition figures claimed that Israel’s Mossad spy organization was responsible.
The assassinations of senior IRGC officers, government officials, and nuclear experts have been occurring with concerning frequency over the past few months.
All of these occurrences have been blamed on Israel. The Iranian government has long held the Jews responsible for the deaths of Iranian nuclear experts over the previous decade.
