Just The News: Wisconsin’s Democratic Senate minority leader was involved in an accident that reportedly began when she exited a parking lot and eventually led to the deaths of a mother and her 5-year-old daughter.
State Sen. Janet Bewley left the Maslowski Beach parking lot in Ashland on Friday shortly after noon and she crossed into the path of another car on the highway, police said, the Ashland Daily Press reported.
Bewley’s car collided with the other car, which was driven by 27-year-old Pennsylvanian Alyssa Ortman, authorities stated.
Ortman’s vehicle spun across the highway where it was hit again by another car.
Ortman passed away later at the hospital while her 5-year-old daughter was pronounced dead at the scene.
The case is still being investigated and no charges have been filed, Ashland Police Chief Bill Hagstrom said Monday. more here

The only way I would be OK with “no charges filed”, is if the family of the deceased gets first whack (or as many as it takes) at her.

I’ve had modern cataract surgery. Twice. There is NO FUCKING WAY it would have been safe to drive only 24 hours later.
She allegedly had eye surgery the day before, is on the phone which some places is illegal and pulls recklessly into oncoming traffic but hey rule for thee and not for me when you wear the dem badge.

I saw this last night on the Duluth news. Her office issued a statement of shared grief then they went completely silent when the police investigation was announced.
This beach is just outside of Ashland with very good visibility of traffic up and down the highway. Traffic never seems that heavy through there. I’ve never heard of any other fatal accident at this entrance.
Very sketchy.

Run it under a montage of the mother and child over the last 5 years, followed by the car they were killed in.
Let us see and hear for ourselves whether “no charges were filed” was appropriate.
