Topo Chico Mineral Water Recalled Over Possible Bacterial Contamination

Coca-Cola has announced a voluntary recall for certain 16.9-ounce glass bottles of Topo Chico Mineral Water sold at Costco and Sam’s Club locations in Arizona, Louisiana, Nevada, New Mexico, and Texas due to possible contamination with Pseudomonas aeruginosa bacteria.

See also: Pseudomonas infection is an illness that you get from strains (types) of Pseudomonas bacteria. Pseudomonas aeruginosa (P. aeruginosa) is the most common type that causes infections in people. P. aeruginosa most commonly exists in the environment, like in water, plants and soil. But it also appears in moist or wet areas, like bathtubs or sinks. You may also have it on your skin, but it may not cause an infection. Healthcare experts sometimes call this bacterial colonization.

Pseudomonas aeruginosa infection can be challenging to get rid of. The bacteria have evolved (changed in response to treatments), so certain antibiotics that would typically treat the condition no longer work (antibiotic resistance).

  1. Who had the stupid idea to name a water sold in the USA with a hispanic name, knowing the old saying “When you go down south DON’T DRINK THE WATER!”.

There is a spring like that just north of Frederick, MD where people line up to fill their jugs. It’s in the side of a cliff on a hill off Hamburg Rd. Supposedly it is checked for purity regularly and always passes the tests.
