Toyota Driver Has Head on Collision With Cybertruck – One Car is in Smithereens – Guess Which One

Elon Musk has long boasted about the ‘superior strength and endurance’ of Tesla‘s Cybertruck, and the first accident of the new electric vehicle has been put the test.

The California Highway Patrol was called to a scene in Palo Alto on Thursday due to an accident involving the futuristic truck and a Toyota Corolla.

The Japanese-made vehicle was demolished in the woods while the Cybertruck sat on the road with minor dents.

  1. Meh. Modern cars are designed with crumple zones that are designed to absorb the impact energy, destroying the body of the car in the process. And a lot depends on what hits what at which angle, as well as what secondary impacts may take place as the car leaves the road/spins out of control.

The Tesla may well be sturdy, but that force needs to go SOMEWHERE. If the car isn’t absorbing it, then it gets transferred to the occupants. I grew up with cars that had metal interiors that were super sturdy, mostly you could hose the blood out and sell it to the next guy. But that sturdiness made it more likely there would BE blood to hose out. (of course, bench seats, optional seat belts, and non-collapsable steering columns ALSO caused some issues, but that’s a different subject for another day)…

  3. Hmmm. Lot’s more dynamic than that. Crush zones insure your survival. Talk to Dale Earnhardt. And it has nothing to do with size. In fact I’d say the Toychota did exactly what it was designed to do.

  4. Here’s a test. Let’s take a 6600 lb piece of shit and roll it head on into a 3000 lb piece of shit. Which piece of shit remains larger after the impact?

Did you catch it in the article? The driver of the Cybertruck was a Tesla engineer. This isn’t a news report, this is a commercial.

    …It? GREAT!

    You, not so much.

…see “Crumple Zones” above for further details…

  6. That’s not Palo Alto. It’s Woodside. Palo Alto use to be a getto. I guess it’s improved a bit. 5 miles west of there is Woodside. One of the most predigest and expensive zip codes around. Nothing but old Silicon Valley money.
