TreeHugger U Has Three Weeks to Raise $12 Million

Inside Higher Education

Northland College in Wisconsin is seeking a $12 million lifeline from donors to keep its doors open. If it fails to raise the money by April 3, the college will likely close, officials announced Monday.

โ€œA recent, comprehensive review by the Board confirmed the College does not have sufficient resources or the financial stability to continue current programs and operations beyond this academic year,โ€ university officials said in a news release announcing the fundraising effort.

The small, private liberal arts college is known for its emphasis on environmental studies. It enrolled 518 students in fall 2022, according to the Department of Educationโ€™s Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System. That’s a slight dip from fall 2017, when it counted 645 studentsโ€”its highest enrollment in the last decade. More

  2. Re-branding, as slutty marketeers call it, might be helpful to this little leftist university located in some snow hole up in Wisconsin.

    I suggest:

    TreeSex University
    F**K A Badger University
    Mooselim University
    GAB (Guns Are Bad) University
    Free Palestine University
    Joe Biden Perv U
Northern Wisconsin University of the Blind
    Karl Marx Memorial University

  3. Do the smart thing, Northland. Allow loggers to come in and cut down some campus trees for needed cash. Then, replant with seedlings. It’s simple.

The trees can grow back, know what I mean? They can be a source of continual revenue for those with a profit oriented, survival type of outlook.

  4. They wonโ€™t collect enough to stay afloat, but what they do collect will be used for โ€œgolden parachutesโ€ for the administrators who caused the collapse. Itโ€™s standard corporate practice.
