DC: South Carolina Republican Rep. Trey Gowdy fired back at Senator Chuck Schumer on “Special Report With Bret Baier” for his comments about President Donald Trump’s decision to fire Attorney General Jeff Sessions on Wednesday.
Trump requested and accepted Sessions’ resignation on Tuesday. The president publicly announced the decision on Twitter.
“We are pleased to announce that Matthew G. Whitaker, Chief of Staff to Attorney General Jeff Sessions at the Department of Justice, will become our new Acting Attorney General of the United States,” he tweeted. “He will serve our Country well. We thank Attorney General Jeff Sessions for his service, and wish him well! A permanent replacement will be nominated at a later date.”
The segment began with Baier airing a clip of Schumer expressing concern that Whitaker would limit the scope of the Mueller investigation.
“Every prosecutor has jurisdictional boundaries. I don’t know a single prosecutor that does not. Mueller’s jurisdictional boundaries were set by Rod Rosenstein in the memo you have seen and they were altered, amended in the memo that we have not seen. But there has never been a prosecutor that just had unfettered power to go investigate whatever the heck he or she wanted to do,” Gowdy stated in response to Schumer.
“If you’re a state prosecutor you can’t investigate federal crimes. If you’re in New York, you can’t investigate things in Idaho. So the notion that we are going to create a special counsel that has no boss, no jurisdictional strictures at all is just typical Chuck Schumer and I think it’s why so few people take them seriously,” he continued. see more

If you watched or went to any of the mid-term rallies, you know that POTUS Trump not only sees the D’s for what they are — filthy socialists — but he forcefully warned everyone about them. He has no illusions about what lengths they will go to try to scuttle him and, as Gingrich has said many times, this president has an inborn reaction to being attacked that, thankfully, is apparently part of his autonomic physiology — attack back — swiftly and thoroughly.

I believe part of this President’s strategy is to lure them into striking distance with a calm and contrite demeanor. Yesterday at the podium he checked himself several times but you could see the color of anger rising in his face. I believe he had to walk away from the podium because if he had not he would have given Acosta a personal beat down.

I think Gowdy might have been the guy we have wished for if he had had any powerful legal authority. I have wondered what he would do in high places, (of real prosecutorial power).
But even if he is just allowed to remain the “point” man, (think bird dog here), he is thorough and not shy.
I will absolutely enjoy the sounds of falling and rolling RINO and faux-conservative heads, and look forward to new effective appointees being installed where they will be at maximal effectiveness.
Do you think people would take Gowdy a bit more seriously were he were to stop changing his look more often than his drawers?
