Trump administration rule to restrict green cards for welfare-reliant immigrants takes effect

Fox-

The Trump administration on Monday is implementing the long-awaited “public charge” rule that restricts green cards for immigrants deemed likely to be reliant on welfare — a rule furiously opposed by Democrats, but one that officials argue will protect taxpayers and align with American principles.

“It’s consistent with our law for over 140 years, it’s a core American value of self-sufficiency, and it’s just plain old logic — what country wants to bring welfare problems into its society? We don’t want to do that,” acting Deputy Homeland Security Secretary Ken Cuccinelli told Fox News ahead of the rule going into effect. “We’re happy to open our doors to people from all over the world but we expect them to stand on their own two feet.”

The Trump administration had published the rule in August, scheduled to go into effect in October, but it was blocked amid a series of court challenges. The Supreme Court lifted preliminary injunctions in January in a 5-4 vote. It ruled the same way on a separate injunction for the state of Illinois on Friday, allowing the rule to go into effect across the country on Monday.

  1. The big controversy from this ruling is Wise Latina’s dissent which personally attacked the majority conservative SC judges as Trump rubber stamps for agreeing to hear the cases in the first place.

Not controversial to Wise Latina are Obama judges creating nationwide injunctions and elevating themselves above Congress and the President.

She has opened a pandora’s box for SC judges impugning the motives of each other. No condemnation from Roberts saying no such thing as Bush, Obama or Trump judges now is there?

Time for Gorsuch, Alito, Thomas, Kavanaugh, etc to call out RBG, Sotomayor and Kagen for inventing reasons not based on the Contitution to legislate from the bench.

  2. The interesting thing is (assuming I read it correctly) is that the rules don’t block an immigrant from a green card if they use welfare but it’s only of they use it for a period greater then 12 months in a 36 month period. In other words an immigrant can use welfare for their first year in country while they establish and get themselves on their feet and still be eligible for a green card. Don’t see the Dems or the four girls on SCOTUS referencing that.

  3. GENIUS!

When the handouts stop, some freeloaders may go back to where ever and that should further increase the demand for American born workers while reducing tax burden on them.

    Should really help inner cities.

  4. Those who warned that the elites would try to kill off the 99% in the next 5, 10, 20, or 30 years now wonder if the ruling powers will start the liquidation this year.

The globalists just can make up an emergency like terrorism or a virus to close airports, bus stations, and train stations, close borders, start checkpoints, close off neighborhoods, shut off the Internet, and then starve people to death.

    Wake up.
