FOX:
The Trump administration announced Friday morning that it will ban Chinese-owned messaging and payment app WeChat effective Sunday and block new downloads of video-sharing app TikTok the same day over national security concerns.
A broader ban of TikTok will be delayed until Nov. 12, with a takeover of its U.S. operations still in the works.
“At the President’s direction, we have taken significant action to combat China’s malicious collection of American citizens’ personal data, while promoting our national values, democratic rules-based norms, and aggressive enforcement of U.S. laws and regulations,” Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross said in a statement. more
This is probably a good idea,
So expect Leftist outrage over it.
The Chinese steal everything. Once people accept that, they can move on to products that don’t.
“Ban downloading on Sunday?”
What about the rest of the week?
Joey, you can download in your nappies any day of the week.
I’d never seen an ad for TikTok on TV before the last day or so but since then have seen six or eight. Sounds like a last gasp to get users.
Anytime we can stick it to the Chicoms, I say good.
A friend started sending me TikTok videos 6 months ago and I just told her then to stop, I’m not using a Chinese platform or downloading it to my phone. Some companies have banned it.. Many people aren’t aware and don’t think about the ramifications of using this crap. And TikTok is beloved by young people, her 11 year old son was sending her the videos. Target the kiddos.
Why would I deliberately want to download a Chinese espionage app?
