Trump Pulls Out of Korean Summit

Independent-

Donald Trump has cancelled his planned summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, blaming increasingly hostile rhetoric from Pyongyang.

After several days during which the president appeared to be signalling that secret negotiations ahead of his planned meeting for June 12 were not going well, he said he was pulling out of the meeting because of the “tremendous anger and open hostility” in a recent statement from Mr Kim. He called it a “missed opportunity” and “truly sad moment in history”.

It had been Mr Trump’s ambition to secure a peace deal with North Korea – something that none of his predecessors were able to do – and that has now apparently been placed on the back burner.

“I feel it is inappropriate, at this time, to have this long-planned meeting,” he said in a letter to North Korea which was made public. “Therefore, please let this letter serve to represent that the Singapore summit, for the good of both parties but to the detriment of the world, will not take place.”

  1. From “Art of the Deal”

“Know when to walk away from the table”

“Remember, the worst thing you can do in a negotiation is to appear desperate to make a deal”

  2. Maybe if we send Odumbo and John Kerry over there with 150 billion dollars, Kim Jung Dung will come to his senses.

…or maybe John McCain has some sound advice to give before he croaks?

  3. I wish they’d STFU about Libya. We took an uncooperative, hostile dictator and bombed him into submission (see: Reagan) and thereby gained some amount of grudging compliance. Hillary et al. managed to create a climate that got Gaddafi killed which created a power vacuum that was ultimately filled by our enemies.

Why the fuck would anybody hold that up as a template for action?

  4. God bless President Trump! Now that is what a smart deal maker does, walk away.

I’m sure lil fat Kim thought DJT would send him $150B in unmarked bills in the middle of the night to try to woo him back to the table. No dice fat Kim. DJT is not Barry.

    Your loss fat Kim.

All that was left was to figure out how many Bazillions Rocket Boy would get as a good behavior reward for having bad behavior for decades.

    I so love President Trump.

  6. The palace intrigue in North Korea is said to be extremely complex and volatile. Add to that the machinations of China and this little bump in negotiations does not seem particularly unusual — well, other than that both North Korea and China probably never imagined Trump would walk away before offering to give every concession imaginable, in the style of Trump’s predecessors.

  7. Baaaaaaaad doggy. Whap, whap, whap.

Kim and his advisers, if any, still trying to use the trusty reliable Clinton-Bush-Obama playbook. It always worked before. It’s all they know.

This was supposed to bring some John Kerry type, with 100 aides, jetting over in a panic to apologize, grovel and offer bribes.

Welcome to Art Of The Deal. With real American nukes, not Paki Beta testing prototypes fueled by Uranium One.

Look for Trump to pressure China while remaining unruffled. Kim will fold, with Chinese pressure, because he has no choice. Regime change is fast and relatively cheap, and Kim knows it.

  8. Oh, oh, Trump will meet with KJU and give away the store just to get a few hostages freed and NK nuke facility torn down.
    Hostages home.
    Nukes dismantled.
    Meeting cancelled.
    All that before 3am, Hillary.

  9. Do keep in mind that NoKo/Un is more or less a Chinese proxy. China (and probably more so, the globalists) want to keep the NAFTA back door open for Chinese parts — mainly for automobiles, but for parts across all mfg sectors. If you’ve been following the financial news, you’ll know that NAFTA allows ex-pat U.S. mfgs to build in Mexico using back door Chinese parts and move their goods into the U.S. without tariffs. These global entities, including many U.S. automakers are fighting the Trump admin to maintain the NAFTA status quo — for obvious reasons. Though Varney ran the NoKo story and the NAFTA story back-to-back this morning, no one commented on the connection, although I’m sure it was implied.

So, China’s trying to hard ball us by queering the NoKo summit, it seems. I’m certain Mnunchin, Ross, Lightheizer, et at have got a Plan B, C, and D. This was just the opening gambit. For the moment it doesn’t worry me to watch the markets jump around a few hundred points, but I do wish we could get this all settled before the mid-terms. Fingers crossed.

  10. In what way did you believe dealing with an entitled little fat dictator who inherited his position from daddy would be any different from dealing with any other liberal/commie?

  11. The usual suspects – China Commie Overlords, NoKo Military rule, Traitous Western “leaders” (Kerry and Obama, et al), U.S. Congressional obstructists, the Fake News media, Marxist, Socialist sympathizers and Progressive Elites all played a part in sabotaging this first negotiation attempt.
Well, there’s no “Kobayashi” for these collective Sozes. They won’t escape Mr. Trump’s interrogation room and the bulletin board has been stripped, except for the acronym – “MAGA” sratched in the cork.
This isn’t over. President Trump will secure a deal in the United States favor. It could happen anytime this year. North Korea doesn’t know whom they’re threatening.
BTW, Kim Jong Un is possibly
a “puppet man”. The NoKo Military may be the ones in charge.

    > I guess this means Obama won’t be getting his second Nobel Peace Prize.

Chin up, lil Vietvet. Now that the Netflix deal has been signed, he can collect that literature prize they’ve been holding up.
