DC: Fox News host Tucker Carlson went on the offensive against Media Matters for America’s (MMFA) in his opening monologue Tuesday, calling into question the legality of their political behavior as a nonprofit organization.
“Don Lemon is calling you dumb. Savor the moment,” Tucker said, before continuing:
But there is an ominous undertone to all of this. Don Lemon doesn’t have the power to have you arrested. Dana Nessel does. Nessel is the attorney general of Michigan. She’s created a special ‘hate crime unit,’ whose charter is to investigate any organization identified as a hate group by the SPLC. This is what weaponized politics looks like. Criticize the people in charge and the SPLC will sic men with guns on you. It’s terrifying. Even worse, you are subsidizing it without knowing it both the SPLC and Media Matters are amazingly tax exempt organizations.
“In its original tax application to the IRS, Media Matters claimed that the American news media were dominated by a pro-Christian bias that needed them to balance it. Despite the obvious absurdity of that claim the group received non-profit status,” he continued. “It has been violating the terms of that status flagrantly ever since. For example, during the Obama administration, Media Matters held weekly strategy discussions with the White House about how to hurt its political enemies.”
“This is a violation of federal tax law,” Carlson added. “Tax exempt nonprofits cannot function as an arm of a political party. Media Matters clearly does.” more here
This is the way things work in America today, it shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone.
One can only hope that, in Trump’s 2nd term, such abused “tax exempt” statuses will be eliminated.

Sharyl Attkisson completely dissects MMfA in her book “The Smear.” It is rather eye-opening. Why that sham organization isn’t being investigated is a mystery to me.

Can’t any American citizen file a complaint with the IRS regarding the tax free status of an organization and isn’t the IRS obligated to investigate the complaint and either disregard it, warn the organization their status is in jeopardy or pull the Tax Free Status which eliminates the ability of thousand of little leftists and a few whales from writing the donations to SPLC off on their taxes. Imagine the flurry of activity id the SPLC cash machine were stripped of non-profit status and that decision goes beck about 5 years. There won’t be enough tide to wash all the dirty drawers in Montgomery.

Obama certainly used the IRS to attack and intimidate his political enemies. I wonder why Trump doesn’t send the DOJ via the AG after these entities that are circumventing the law to destroy those who disagree with their political ideology? You would think that the IRS would be very interested in the revenue stream, unless they are not politically neutral. 🙄

Last I heard, the tax-exempt, nonprofit SPLC had a $200 million stashed in overseas accounts. One of the many left wing slush funds.
