The patrons most likely stayed because they felt a moral responsibility to pay for their food and knew that the restaurants were not responsible.
The Mayors & Governors are at fault.
I also would Stay & Pay plus leave a little extra for the waiters who had to clean up.
OK. How about they Call the restaurant and tell them what table they sat at and what they had, and offer to pay over the phone. The customer’s meal does not come with an ass-beating.
