Typical Government Worker – She slept more than a third of her work day and no one did a thing about it

California DMV data operator slept three hours a day at her desk for three years, and the department failed to take disciplinary action — despite complaints from her colleagues

The auditor estimated the employee misused 2,200 hours of work time between February 2014 and December 2017. [<<< that’s nearly FOUR years, DMV math wizard]
The employee continues to work for the state… [<<< when awake, that is]
ht/ nice work if you can get it

  1. When I worked at a state DOT, one of our engineers, a Muslim from India, went to a mosque for daily prayers two or three times a day during work hours. Nobody ever said anything to him, and nothing was ever done about it.

Of course, I shouldn’t complain. I let the files get in a terrible mess because I, like, totally hate filing, man. It didn’t really matter because nobody ever used them, and when we moved to a new building they all got tossed in the dumpster.

Good enough for government work, I guess.

  2. Given customer satisfaction rates among government workers while they are awake, it’s probably better for her assessment if she was sleeping and quietly take that promotion.

  3. We already know it’s a she.
I’m betting she’s also not white, not Christian, and not, in the least, patriotic. Maybe not even a citizen, because it’s Caliphornia.

  4. because of great efforts of paperwork required by ‘Human Resources’ departments (formerly know as ‘Personnel’ departments …. good grief!) it takes over 2 years of due diligence by a supervisor to get someone disciplined, let along fired … & even then, it’s a crapshoot
very, very few ‘managers’ have the intestinal fortitude or stamina to fight against whole departments, his own managers & the unions
… I learned from one of the best managers I ever had on how to ‘properly’ achieve it. but it takes a massive amount of time & energy … the system is totally rigged on the side of the ‘aggrieved” & the system will fight tooth & nail to keep it’s ‘gravy train’ rolling

  5. My Dad worked at the GPO. A diversity planet-sized hire would nap 2 hours a day at her desk. One day, after nearly finishing her 2nd Boston Market chicken, she face planted into her desktop. Nobody thought anything about it. An hour and half later someone noticed a foul odor. It turned out to be her, not the food. That was her last nap ever. No joke.

  6. If she is a she, and has been in the system many years, and esp is minority, then she can get away w practically anything. Often its the least qualified who get away w the most. Ive worked in fed govt the rot and laziness is off the charts. W pension benefits and savings plan at your expense

  7. Different situation, but in the same vein.

I had to visit our local Fred Meyer store (used to be a northwest company, but purchased about 5 yrs ago by Kroger) last weekend. While chatting with one of their employees, he said that their store loses “about $10,000. a day from theft.” What?! “Oh, yes”, he said. Seattle has this huge homeless *situation* and last year decided it would be a good idea to allow people to live in their parked vans, RV’s and whatever other vehicle they choose. All these RV’s, vans and so on are derelict eyesores and the entire Fred Meyer parking lot is ringed with them. The guy said that they all know that the staff at FM “can’t touch ’em.” He said there are the regular dozen or so *homeless* who come into the store every, single, day and leave with thousands of dollars worth of merchandise that they fence from their mobile homes. I asked why FM didn’t call the police and he said the police are never there soon enough. Occasionally, he said, the police with do a sweep of the parked vans and find them filled to the brim with stolen FM goods and other stolen property. He said the only thing they can do to offset the losses is to raise prices.

  8. I take it this was outside the designated nap time?

Back when I worked Days we had to wait until after Noon to nap and/or drink.
Evening Shift (4-12) generally had to wait until after 8 PM.
Midnights (12-8) had a bit more latitude.

50% to 65% of gov’t workers (same as Unions) are useless pieces of shit, anyway, so when they’re asleep or out sick or just not available they’re not fucking something (or someone) up.

    izlamo delenda est …

  9. As a lifelong entrepreneur who paid 15% of his income to SS which Congress has stolen, any mention of guaranteed lifelong pensions for these disgusting parasites makes me see RED!
