U.S. Tests The New Super A-10 Warthog [Secretly]

WATCH: The A-10 Thunderbolt II is a single-seat jet aircraft whose main task was to provide air support for ground troops, both in local wars and in the “big” war in the European theater of war. It was named after one of the most successful fighters of World War II, the Republic P-47 Thunderbolt. Though pilots affectionately call it “Beardface”.

  1. There is nothing new about this video. It’s essentially the A-10’s biography. I will say that while in Afghanistan, it was always my favorite form of CAS.

  2. I’ve always been fascinated by military aircraft. The spot for ‘my favorite’ has always been filled by two planes: the SR-71 Blackbird and the A-10 Warthog.

I would love to see the Warthog make a comeback.

  3. Last century, The military geniuses were going to phase out the A-10 as being obsolete. Events changed their outlook.

And, yes the A-10 was nicknamed after the P-47, but look at my avatar, at that twin-engined beast with a nose full of death, and tell me who’s your daddy, A-10.

  4. I work near an Air National Guard base which has a few Warthogs. They do “touch and go’s” daily in the afternoon. I sometimes go outside to watch them.
I never get to hear the Brrrrrrrrrrp though…

  5. Tony R, maybe this story is related to the “US Special Forces in Ukraine” story. Psyops and saber-rattling in lieu of actual “kinetics”.

And did you hear that “Ukraine won the drone war?” So sick of this MalDisMal war we’re being fed.

“Prepping the battlefield”? more like “Preppies babbling”.

  6. Military News huh? Who’s military. #1, they are in the process of rolling a rev on the A-10. But that’s not it.
#2 The original purpose of the A-10 was Russian Armor, not ground support. Which I guess are rather close in nature but the intent was a tool to decimate Rusky Tanks. And it can.
#3 Beardface? NO. I’ve been making parts off and on for that airframe for over 20 years. Making a shit ton of them right now. At the engineering level I hear it called the Gun With Wings a lot. Mostly I just hear A-10.
