TheImaginativeConservative- Unborn Child is the title of an album boldly released in 1974 by the rock duo Seals and Crofts at the height of their popularity. Ever hear of it? Didn’t think so.
Even if you were a pop music fan during the 1970’s you likely have no recollection of the album, or its title song, in large part because Unborn Child was boycotted. But chances are good you’ve heard Seals and Crofts’ big hits, which include gold Billboard singles like “Summer Breeze,” “Diamond Girl,” and “We May Never Pass this Way Again.” In fact, you can still hear these songs today on oldies radio stations, or in grocery stores, elevators, or any establishment where soft-rock oldies are played.
The lyrics of the song “Unborn Child” were offered to Seals and Crofts by Lana Day Bogan, the wife of the duo’s recording engineer. She had seen a documentary about abortion and was moved to write a poem that began:
Oh little baby, you’ll never cry, nor will you hear a sweet lullabye.
Oh unborn child, if you only knew just what your momma was plannin’ to do.
You’re still a-clingin’ to the tree of life, but soon you’ll be cut off before you get ripe.
Oh unborn child, beginning to grow inside your momma, but you’ll never know.
Oh tiny bud, that grows in the womb, only to be crushed before you can bloom.
Mama stop! Turn around, go back, think it over.
Now stop, turn around, go back, think it over.
Stop, turn around, go back think it over.
At Bogan’s suggestion, Jim Seals put the poem to music.
h/t Tuesday.
don’t expect God to help us out of our politically generated mess of economic stagnation and perpetual warfare.
child sacrifice is frowned upon by God and until we stop killing babies in the womb he will with hold any favors he might have shown.
abortion – satan’s greatest deception.
Wow, I didn’t know that. What a heart rending song. Stand up men.
REgressives recognized early on what Andrew said, that is politics is downstream form culture. And I’d add culture is downstream from education. Control them and you need not worry about the politics.
Our culture and education are in the sewer. If there’s any doubt of that, we’ve murdered 60 MILLION human babies since R v W and elected a community organizer who promised to fundamentally change this country.
Other tools the left uses are semantic infiltration(pro choice v abortion e.g.) and PC. Of course they only work on guilt ridden people which means 10 of millions of ordinary Americans have put up with shit that not just rankles them but is directly opposed to the values they hold. IOW, we’re just too GD polite.
Whether Trump wins or not, that mask is coming off.
Seals and Croft fought social engineering and paid the price.
What is truly inspiring, they knew there would be a heavy price to be paid for their action, but chose to stand tall regardless.
Que LiR’s remorseless defensive outrage for her choice to end a life that had no choice.
FYI. The album is available on Amazon. Less than $10.00.
God is watching all of us. Past and present.
There is no collective salvation and liberalism is the collective.
Seals and Croft knew the ultimate prize is not in this earth.
@biLL
So correct. The defenders of abortion are no different than the Phillistines of the Old Testament sacraficing babies to Baal.
Spark of life
This firework represents to me God’s touch to a new life.
Pretty amazing.

My old vinyl is in a storage locker, but I think I have this album.
RadioMattM–how lucky you are to have this album! I hope the locker is temperature controlled!
It got a fair amount of airplay around here; I remember it well.
I never heard it before and I loved Seals and Croft’s back in the 70’s. I have many fond memories of driving my 68 VW beetle along with my then young wife listening to them on the cars cassette player. This song gave me chills up and down my spine, I couldn’t get through it because I was starting to cry. And by the way whatever happened to them after their short fame was over?
The Imaginative Conservative is one of my favorite websites. I subscribe to it and get their weekly updates every Saturday in my E-mail box. Thanks for posting.
Tuesday, yes it is.
“Oh little baby, you’ll never cry, nor will you hear a sweet lullabye.”
“Oh unborn child, if you only knew just what your momma was plannin’ to do.”
That is so haunting to me…
