United Methodist Church Breaking Apart Over Gay Agenda

Fox News

The number of congregations departing the United Methodist Church (UMC) exceeded 5,000 last week as the second-largest Protestant denomination in the U.S. continues to fracture over theological disagreements, mostly pertaining to human sexuality.

The number of churches that have been given the green light by their annual conferences to disaffiliate increased from approximately 4,600 early last week to 5,321 as of Friday, according to UM News.

The number of churches leaving the UMC has surged in recent years, with approximately 2,000 congregations being approved to disaffiliate in 2022 and more than 3,000 this year. More

  1. So in 2019 there was a vote against the LGBLT agenda, the church leaders decided to disregard that vote and proceed with their woke agenda, and it’s the CONSERVATIVES that have to leave (after paying for the privilege, of course)????

4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.”
    2 Timothy 4:3-4

“10 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.

11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.

12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.”
    Matthew 24:10-12

“24 And if a kingdom be divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand.

25 And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand.”

  3. “13 For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.

14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.

15 Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.”

2 Therefore thus saith the Lord God of Israel against the pastors that feed my people; Ye have scattered my flock, and driven them away, and have not visited them: behold, I will visit upon you the evil of your doings, saith the Lord.”

  5. I find for me that I’ve done well by keeping my church in my head.
I like the gospel and not necessarily someone’s interpretation of what they think it means.

  6. Every 4 years, the UMC has its General Conference. This is a meeting for global leadership; all clergy/bishops and an equal representation of laity.

At the last gathering (2019), they voted to uphold the Traditional Plan which basically maintained the UMC stance on LGBT clergy, that it is incompatible with Christian teaching, LGBT will not be ordained as clergy, and no LGBT weddings allowed in churches. The vote was 53% to 47% to uphold the LGBT ban.

I was told that it was the delegation from Africa that made the difference in upholding the Traditional plan. Imagine that; we’ve sent missionaries there and to other nations for years and they reject the progressive garbage now being pushed in the same church that led them to Christ! Bravo!

There was also a plan implemented for Disaffiliation, for churches who want to separate from the denomination. That is what’s happening now. Each church within their own “Annual Conference” will decide at the church-level to depart or to stay, eventually.

John Wesley, the “founder” of Methodism, was all about evangelism/salvation in Christ and personal holiness/sanctification. There was good social engagement that followed those who were converted to Christ which addressed things like alcohol and abuse/neglect of children. It is the belief of some that it was the preaching of John Wesley and his associates, and the resulting revival in England, that spared that nation from the same bloody revolution that France later experienced.

There are still bible-believing Methodists out there, mostly in the south. The overall slide of the denom has been leftward for years and big headlines have been made when some bishop or pastor does a gay wedding or some queer is “ordained” in one of the conferences, in defiance of church policy, then everyone thinks this is representative of all UMC. It isn’t. The gay thing goes way back and leaders have known for decades it would ultimately come down to a split.

The attempt is to do it as amicably as possible.

  7. Bible’s pretty clear on the queers. Pretty straight on the subject. Churches that abandon the Bible are as fish that abandon the water. The wages of sin is death. And that is that.

  8. Read THE VENONA SECRETS. Commie bastards had a plan to take down our country long before Senator McCarthy worked up the courage to say something. The commies infiltrated seminaries. Tragic what commie inspired Methodists leaders were able to do from the inside.

  9. Five years ago my small country UMC got a new preacher that had a teenage daughter that came out of the closet. It fractured the church. When we left I handed the preacher a Bible and suggested that he read it.

  10. I remember years ago a methodist church deacon or whatever, praying “Dear father/mother god …”
Other than my parents’ funerals, I’ve not been in another methodist church.
Note: I purposefully did not capitalize the denomination.

  12. I converted to UMC in the early 80’s, worked my way up to Sunday School Instructor, I quit the Sunday they sent us flyers to assist Cuba with school supplies.

That was enough for me, and that was in the early 80’s…

  13. “… destruction of one more bit of Christianity.”
Christianity isn’t being destroyed – it’s being reinforced.

Christians are distancing themselves from this sick, perverted, Satanic corruption – AS THEY SHOULD.

  14. My church for my entire life until 3 years ago, Santa Monica UMC.
This battle has been going on for at least 10 years. Very sad to see what it takes to break up a church. I still love Methodism, as Wesley created it, but apart from keeping in touch with friends I don’t see much in common with my old church – which is definitely on the left side of the aisle. Very happy with my new church in Charleston, which for some reason is booming while my old church has practically no new members, even as the church around the corner from it is booming. Hmmm…
