US, EU announce trade deal

Just The News

President Donald Trump met with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen on Sunday to discuss trade and other issues.

“We are agreeing that the tariff straight-across for automobiles and everything else will be a straight-across tariff of 15%,” Trump said.

“They’re going to purchase $750 billion worth of energy, so that’s going to be great, and $600 billion of investments into the United States over and above what they have,” he added.

The deadline of August 1 for new higher tariffs to be imposed on the European Union is fast approaching.

Trump has said the tariff on European imports would be 30% tariff if a trade deal isn’t reached. more here

  3. Now the Left will be screaming about how Trump’s latest trade deal with the EU, because it consists of several Countries, will rapidly bring demise to the U.S.

  4. Don’t let anybody tell you it’s corporations and businesses that create jobs.

Many of you are well enough off that… the tax cuts may have helped you… We’re saying that for America to get back on track, we’re probably going to cut that short and not give it to you. We’re going to take things away from you on behalf of the common good.

  5. European nations are pretty bad about non-tariff trade barriers in the form of rules and regulations. Unless these were addressed also our companies will still find it tough sledding selling into that region.

On the bright side there is also an energy and investment component that favors The United States and we’ll still be getting 15% tariffs off their imports.

  6. @Dr. Tar — I’ve yet to see anything specific, but after President Trump stomped von Leyen into the dirt yesterday, he did say that the non-tariff crap would be reduced or eliminated. I think it’s reasonable to be optimistic!
