US now working to expedite baby formula shipments from Mexico

JTN

The Biden administration announced Wednesday that it will help in efforts to import the equivalent of about 16 million 8-ounce baby formula bottles from Mexico to help ease a nationwide shortage of the infant food.

The effort is being led by the Department of Health and Human Services and includes expediting trucks delivering about 1 million pounds of Gerber Good Start Gentle infant formula from a Nestlé plant to U.S. retailers, according to the Associated Press.

The effort will nearly doubling the amount of baby formula being imported to the U.S. to date, the White House says.

The shortage started with the closure in February of the largest U.S. baby food manufacturing plant over contamination concerns.

The first efforts to get formula from other countries to ease the U.S. shortage started with cargo flights from Europe and Australia, which includes two new rounds of air shipments that started this past weekend. more

  1. They tell you not to drink the water in Mexico, when on vacation. “Hey, the turnip said,I have an idea, Let’s import baby formula from them”

    ABSOLUTE INCOMPETENCE!!!!!

  2. A news story I thought I’d never see: “US importing necessary goods from third world country.” I guess this is what Biden means by “Build Back Better.”

Well, its baby formula not water, it comes from baby formula wells or something, and you’re a racist for bringing it up. REEEEEEET!

  4. If this doesn’t sum up the Biden administration then I don’t know what does. The US depending on Mexico to feed our children. It doesn’t get anymore pathetic than that.

  5. Both Gerber and Nestle were the subjects of (previous) contaminated products and recall. Anything food from Mexico should be regarded with suspect and caution.

  6. Went to a Latino/Hispanic owned-plus American marketed, large franchise grocery stoe chain, Compare Foods. Very clean, organized, well managed stores. Guess what they had plenty of…Yep, baby formula. Some locked up and some on the selves. How do they keep their supply current? Cartels are Us? or just protected class? Shoppers are mainly hoodrats and illegals/immigrants. Suburban families don’t seem to shop in these stores. Interesting.
