Venezuela extends border closures with Colombia

south america

BBC-

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has extended border closures with Colombia to another six towns in the western state of Tachira.

Mr Maduro also announced the deployment of an extra 3,000 troops in the area, which he says has been infiltrated by Colombian paramilitaries and gangs.

The main crossings were closed a week ago after Venezuelan soldiers were injured in a shootout with smugglers.

  1. Oh, look! Maduro cannot feed his people, so they are rioting, as the economic crisis caused by the abject failure of socialism gets worse.

So, what’s next? I know. Let’s start a war with our neighbor. That’ll focus attention away from our miserable economy and onto a boogey-man!

  2. Maduro is doing this at the bidding of his military and economic partner, Iran. Kerry and State dept. are totally oblivious.

I bet Iran has plans to move some nuke production to Venezuela, too, and Israel is watching closely. They will strike Iran before it can move anything critical across the Atlantic.

  3. I suspect the smugglers are bringing in food and other amenities that are non-existent in Venezuela under socialism.
People will pay for food at any cost. If they don’t get food, they’ll pay a higher price for weapons.
Maduro will find this out soon enough.
