Want the truth? Put your money on Bill Barr, not Jerry Nadler

The Hill:

An anonymous, but wise, Wyoming rancher recently summarized special counsel Robert Mueller’s report in clear middle-America language: “We know that old boy didn’t actually steal any horses, but he’s obviously guilty of trying to avoid being hanged for it.”

The House Judiciary Committee, led by Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.), wants a hangin’ no matter what. We know they’re serious because they had former Nixon counselor John Dean testify, which had everyone in America under age 60 searching Google. The parallels to Watergate apparently are uncanny in the minds of some. Next up: Maybe Robert DeNiro, since his resemblance to Bob Mueller on “Saturday Night Live” is uncanny, too.

Let’s face it, Congress seems little more than a parody now. The legislative branch of our constitutional government has withered to a thin twig, completely overshadowed by the executive and judicial branches that have far more impact on our lives.

Congress’s popularity hovers just above that of human traffickers. Their job description is to pass important laws and a budget. They’ve done neither, consistently, for years. Immigration, cybersecurity, violent crime and drug trafficking, the environment … basically, crickets. Their constitutional responsibilities to declare war and ratify treaties have been bypassed by the executive branch for decades. We essentially are down to 2.1 branches of government.

As a result, Congress has rolled over and abandoned America’s right to sober, statesman-like, bipartisan lawmaking in exchange for political demagogue theater, which attracts the news media and gets the politicians on TV. This leads to notoriety, which leads to fabulous personal wealth — an all too familiar pattern now for those elected to Congress.

The “obstruction of justice by the president” chimera that House members are chasing along party lines pales in comparison to their own corrupt, empty practices. Out of frustration stemming from their evident irrelevance, they are hurling, tantrum-like, subpoenas for personal financial records without legitimate legislative grounds, along with increasing contempt of Congress citations and threats against anyone who won’t buy a ticket to their party politics theater.

  1. I love that opening line and my money is on Barr, too.
Chris Plante describes Jerry Nadler as a pile of dirty laundry in loafers.

So many whip smart folks out there. That cause belly laughs. I love’em.

  2. Congress basically exists now to enrich the members. Their ‘jobs’ are stepping stones to more lucrative endeavors. Well, unless they become the elite members, then their ‘job’ IS the money making endeavor. That explains the two to three decades of “service” to country. HAHAHAHAHA, I just made a funny … “service”!

  3. Barr vs Nadler???

Not a betting person, and we are ALL told there is no such thing as a certainty, BUT I will take the 2 to 1 on Barr, I believe those odds are almost a guarantee in a HORSE race, that Barr will clean Nadlers clock.

@ Gin – I believe your expectations are too high. I for one do not expect to see the cuffs and ‘orange jumpsuits or perp walk. Maybe for some low level IBF or AIC people.

I believe the POTUS is working on disgracing them for their crimes. The POTUS must walk a fine line of being the president that exposed the Swamp and tried to preserve the Republic at the same time.

Ghost is from a time when we would EXILE these pricks and bastards, or walk the plank…

Just an observation on my part. Every president i have ever seen ages in the job, graying, becoming more stoop shouldered as the weight of the deep state reality weighs them down. Donald John Trump relishes the engagement of battle and appears to be getting younger and more vibrant as the days roll on. Because he’s kicking their sorry asses.

  5. James Gabbert owned K101 in San Francisco back in the ’70’s. He was as gay as they come, and I am sure he was a pretty liberal guy.

When Ford pardoned Nixon, Gabbert did an editorial saying it was a good thing because Congress would have to stop their lynching of Nixon and actually get down to doing the work that they were sent to Washington to do.

I guess Democrats are so lazy they don’t want to do what they are supposed to do but rather find some way of sitting around doing nothing while making themselves feel important.

  6. @ PHenry – I would agree with you but depending on each of the presidents, their experience and their age upon entering and then exiting office.

Reagan for instance? Took a bullet and still took a while to turn gray.

I git what you are a sayin’. I am trying to think of a similar figure to DJT in modern history, but I am going blank right now!

Wait, some say Jackson some say PATTON.

  7. @PHenry — Yes, that’s seems like a very correct assessment! I do believe POTUS Trump is energized by the job and the people. He breathes in the energy at his rallies. It’s pretty astonishing.
