For many retailers (Target, CVS, Walgreens)yes, it is smarter to shudder all SF locations. But Nieman-Marcus is iconic, it’s been there for a hundred years. Much like Harrods in London, or FAO Schwarz in NY, NM is SF, and it’s a damn shame what these animals are doing.
I remember in the ’80s and 90’s (when the city was actually safe) going to NM for their spectacular Christmas displays. Going ice skating at Union Square, listening to carolers in front of the Mark Hopkins Hotel, SF was magical around Christmas time, not anymore.
I refuse to care more about this shit than the retailers do.

Looks like a typical Tuesday outside any Victoria’s Secret in any shopping mall anywhere to me.
Even in San Marcos, TX the Walmart has a special cosmetics area with all the products they previously had locked up behind glass doors and a separate cashier for the area that you have to pass to enter. That way they don’t need to deal with being called racist for certain products that are at high risk of theft being stolen. These stores are just all going to leave, easier and cheaper for them to just have an online presence anyway.

Stay away from these unsafe cities. Don’t go there on vacation, “girls weekend”, or business. Let it collapse on itself. I will not take my children to Chicago, LA, San Francisco, Seattle, Portland, Georgia (entire state), New York, …. Send a message with your money. Time to see some rural parts of our great nation. Except for the no prosecution angle, this is not new. More than 20 years ago I witnessed an organized shoplifting incident at a department store at a mall in a Southern city. The crooks pulled their car up to the doors. Two or three men got out, ran into the mens’s department and scooped up dozens of pairs of Levi’s, ran out, hopped in the car, and took off. It was all over and done before the clerks could even react to it.
Remember, if you say there is a shoplifting problem, you are a racist.
