Can’t think of a more badass name than Powers Boothe.
One of my all time favorites. He sure did a job in Tombstone. 68 is way to early. I’m not sure what his politics were but I really enjoyed his work.
He holds the record for longest drive in a celebrity golf tournament. 490 yards.
Colonel Tanner, always will be.
“Come on, buddies! Come and get ’em!” (the stinkin’ commies)
🙁 On of my favorite actors and I always loved his name. That bastard Cy Tolliver won’t be in the new Deadwood movie that has been in the works for a decade…the script was just submitted to HBO a month or so ago…so they say.
490 yards? Where in the heck was that?
Joe, from wikipedia
“Boothe made an appearance during the 1987 Celebrity Golf Challenge for Charity where he made the current long drive record for celebrities of 490 yards. For these efforts, Boothe was awarded the Golden Pumpkin, but, because of scheduling conflicts, he could not receive the award in person.”
RIP
Enjoyed his work.
Hell, if I was ever to hit a 490 yard drive I would change my schedule in order to receive an award. Even if it is a Golden Pumpkin, I’d be there to get it.
So long, Curly Bill.

I can drive a ball 490 yards. Unfortunately it’s on a 245 yard radius. When I tee up I yell fore and then hit the ball.
Even as a bad guy up against Kurt Russell and Sam Elliott, you just had to like the man.
I also like that he kept his politics, whatever they were, to his own dinner table.
Thank you for Red Dawn and for Tombstone.
Whatever Heaven’s like, I hope John Ford and Capra and Huston are there making new films with all the greats. I hope I get to see them when the time comes.
Rest in Peace, Senator Roark!
“So long, Curly Bill.”
Out of that cast I would have expected Val Kilmer to die first. Reports are he’s crawling with cancer. He lost all that weight he packed on and looks like he’s 90.
What a great movie.
I can drive a golf ball 490 yards.
In my truck.
On the way to the course or range.
Can’t access imdb from work but seems to me he played a good Phillip Marlowe in the 80s, like an hbo series, maybe, I saw it and liked it.
Tombstone gets the bongo seal of approval, quite rare for any western of the past 40 years.
Strange name but kudos on his work. RIP.
Also very good in “Southern Comfort” Skipped out of PT at Lowry AFB to go watch this( us USAF folks shunned exercise )
He was great in Red Dawn
“..and two hundred million screamin’ Chinese”
“I thought there was a billion..”

Absolve, we beseech Thee, O Lord,
the soul of Thy servant,
from every bond of sin,
that being raised in the glory of the resurrection,
he may be refreshed among the Saints and Elect.
Through Christ our Lord.
Amen.

Although I was not too young to remember Jonestown, I was too busy raising our kids to pay much attention to it. I just spent three hours learning about it, and now intend to watch the interviews of the survivors.
Thank you Dr. Tar for putting the link to the movie about Jonestown. I didn’t really think about how horrific it was at the time, nor realize it was the great socialist utopia of a sociopath.
This movie uncovers some parallels to a certain political person and organizer who also preaches socialist utopia.
Yes, Powers Boothe was a really good actor.
As a pilot, my favorite line was from Red Dawn when asked how he managed to get shot down during a dogfight in an F-15 Eagle:
Indignantly responds, “It was five to one; I got four”.
