Sad Update:

He pulled through. Now we’ll have to endure more posts like Lego Hawking.

I hadn’t heard from Pogo in about a month. The last thing he sent in was Lego Hawking-

I received an email from him this morning. He’s messed up and needs us to send some good wishes into the ether.

He’s in the hospital. He went in for surgery to replace a worn out part that he had done years ago. Routine.

One thing (hospital screw-ups) led to another, and another, and another and now he’s in banged up shape. He actually sent me a “good-bye” email thanking me for the site, etc., that’s how much his head is spinning.

I called him and he sounds strong, but groggy, because he’s being prepped for a surgery that had absolutely nothing to do with the original reason he went in for.

And so no one has to ask, yes, this is in FLORIDA!!! (They truly suck hard down here.) ((I hope they don’t discharge him from the hospital looking like the Hawking Lego.)) (((Don’t bristle. If Pogo reads that he will laugh.)))

To Pogo, get well soon.

  24. Hell, a few more days of this & I’ll have to change my name to “Windowscreen, due to all of the holes they’ve been poking in me.

    I’m not giving up the “Ghost”as it is, because I want to get well enough to be able to squeeze the “Sweet Cheeks” an about 6 nurses here.

    Besides, I’ve been in & out hospitals so much of my life, I look at them as a “Home Away From Home” anyway.

    I loved your Lego Hawkins! I saved it off and each time I see it, it always makes me laugh.

    Hurry and get well. It’s not the same around here without you.

  40. looks lie I’m now in “Countdown Mode”. Supposed to be grabbing their “Guinea Pig” in a few. I just hope the meat cleavers and saws are sharp & they don’t have to chew their way in.

  50. Here are fervent wishes for a satisfactory outcome, Pogo!

    Anybody who takes the name of my favorite possum is A-OK in my book. I grew up reading Kelly’s strip and have very fond memories of the whole Okefenokee family, especially Porkypine. Believe it or not, I once knew the man that Kelly used as a model for ol’ Porky and the resemblance was well-crafted!

  61. I meant to post last night to wish you a successful (as in still being alive and all) surgery. Now I wish you a good recovery. I look forward to seeing your comments and updates. All the best, plus prayers.

  71. The doc must have used a new rattle and fresh fresh leeches this time. Glad to hear you made it through, Pogo. Take it easy, and enjoy flying the bed with your pain meds. Here’s to thorough recovery!
