What do they teach in history classes in America?

Reader Quinn sends in yesterday’s Final Jeopardy answer, and only the Canadian gets the question.

Have they stopped teaching European history in American schools? Is it too Anglo? Is it to colonialist?

(My Jeopardy Clue–>One wonders when the uneducated left will begin to call “Trump’s Wall” by this failed French defense construction.)

STOP THE PRESSES!!!!

The Jeopardy Canadian wasn’t a product of his schooling. He just happens to be a a smart guy, like most Jeopardy contestants.

  1. We might as well start pulling names out of a hat in future elections. The country would have a better chance of survival than letting these idiots vote. If stupidity was contagious I’d probably be dead from watching this.

  2. The only history they teach here is the evils of colonialism, and the US is the greatest offender. From slavery to the genocide of the Indians to rapacious capitalism to spreading our greedy racist ways to the rest of the world. The US was never an instrument of good, only evil.

This Jeopardy question was easy but TBH anyone that knows a lick about history did not obtain that knowledge from school, but from reading books.

Over the years I have maintained that one of the greatest gifts a parent can give to his kid is the love of books, to cultivate a curious mind and a desire for improvement and enrichment. This is why we read books.

  3. I don’t watch Jeopardy as much as I used to mainly because I find myself yelling out the correct answers that most of the dunderheads on Jeopardy can’t answer correctly. And I agree with Rich Taylor that if you are an avid reader like I am you will know most of the correct answers especially the historical and general knowledge stuff. The questions that throw me the most are the newer pop culture and newer music categories which I could care less about.

  4. Sort of like the time I was the only one in math class (algebra) in 9th grade who knew that space was curved from reading it about in a small blurb in an old Superman comic book. And I was the supposed dummy and knew that and all the so called brainiacs didn’t. Read everything you can get your hands and you will succeed because the so called smart ones for the most part don’t read or if they do it’s because they have to. Reading should be fun and a joy and not seen as a hassle or bother.

  5. So The Maginot Line covered parts of the border with Italy, which is mountainous terrain perfect for defense, but didn’t cover the Belgian border which is where the Germans invaded in WWI

Good strategic thinking. Who was the Minister of Defense for France, Harpo Marx?
