  1. Burger King but alas they are aholes. The Jumbo Jack was the best when it came out, but they ruined it. The Big Mac was great till it became the mini mac. Wendys were soggy.

  3. Burger King over McDonald’s.
    In ‘n Out pretty good.
    Carl’s Jr. OK.
    Wendy’s- meh.

I liked Rally Burgers near my home.
But it turned into a Starbucks…

  4. Freddy’s and Culver’s are tops. Besides a good product, the ones I’ve been in appear to take pride in their stores and customer service.

  5. In the time it takes to goto a burger joint and have some pimply faced goon wipe his face and flip your meat to serve you an overcooked and overpriced burger that’s too small on an oversized bun that’s made with chemicals that require chemical gloves to handle and don’t belong in any kitchen (seriously, look up what’s in those buns), you could light the BBQ or pan fry one yourself for less than 1/2 the price that tastes way better and won’t kill you as quickly.

  6. We used to call Johnny Rockets – Johnny’s Rectal Rockets! Their grease would clean you out!
Wendy’s ain’t what it used to be around here.
Personally I like Bob Culver’s Butterburger.

    5
  7. I prefer McDonalds, but Dairy Queen can be really good depending one the location. Some suck hind tit though.

I generally go with a Big Mac or just a single burger, but sometimes Quarter Pounder.

  8. I liked Fatburger best, for fast-food. So many good burgers in the $15-20 range that will blow any of these away.
Also, Hardees = Carl’s Jr., just east coast/left coast branding.

  9. Best: Culver’s. The only places you can get better burgers on occasion are one-off / Mom & Pop’s places (non-franchise IOW).

    Worst: that’s about a 20-way tie.

    7
  10. If you ever get to Chicago, try Epic Burger. Multiple locations. Really good burgers, made your way with lots of toppings and great onion rings, fries and also sweet potato waffle fries. Shakes are good too.

  11. Growing up in Louisville we had Burger Chef, Burger Queen, & Burger King.
Reminds me on McDowell’s in Coming to America.

There was also a small little food truck called Ollie’s Trolley.
I still remember them having the best burgers.

    2
  12. Just had a Culver’s last week and it was very tasty. The Snake and Shake jalapeno crunch burger was really good but the store here no longer makes them. My choice is a mom and pop deli that makes excellent and huge mushroom burgers.

    2
  13. Jumbo Jack on sourdough is a decent fast-food burger.

And Jack’s tacos *now with less kangaroo meat!(TM)* are better than Taco Bell’s.
But I prefer the the tacos on our lunch truck.
Even though I once found most of an aorta in one…

BTW- How come I can’t get any Pizza in a Cup around here??

  14. I hate to go all juvenile on you.

OK. I don’t mind going juvenile at all. Ha.

You can’t beat square meat. So says Wendy’s. They suck. The last time I went to one a cockroach ran across the counter. I quickly walked away.

Burger King and DQ in my little town are out of business.

  15. Although I don’t eat fast food, after a wine hangover, my brain decided a double bacon western cheese burger with those onion rings inside would be perfect. Ate that so fast with a diet coke, don’t think a stop watch could’ve timed it. Delicious.
Other than that one time, just the home grilled types will fit the bill.

  16. Absolute worst burger I ever had was a Carrols Club Burger, they were awful (offal?) especially after sitting under the heatlamp for an hour or two. Carrols became Burger King. You’ll never get a good burger at the big national chains. We have Tom Wahl’s as a pretty good local chain.

    1
  17. A hand made burger with a fried egg on it.

Anybody ever been to Born In A Barn in Laramie, WY?
They have a variety of good burgers.
(Best college town in the USA, and highest altitude btw)

  18. Dick’s Drive In burgers are good but their fries are better. Dick’s greasy goodness would soak up the alcohol after bar hopping in Seattle back in the day. Fond memories before I got old and the city went to crap.

Burgermaster is our go to burger place. Drive up, order and eat in your car. We always get a Tom & Jerry shake.

    Sometimes I crave MickeyD’s.
I hate Burger King and Jack in the Box.
    Wendy’s used to be good.
The others…meh. Why bother. Used to like Red Robin but the service and food quality has dropped since the pandemic. We won’t go back.

  19. I’m just grateful I married a fella that owns a cattle farm! Dang do we have some FANTASTIC hamburgers, make your own! Yesterday we met our daughter and her boyfriend at a Wendy’s at 1:10 pm and as it happens our party of 5 showed up as approximately 5 others and the staff at the Alton Illinois store literally hid from the customers! Our family went across the street to Burger King. Don’t know who owns this location, but never another dime from me and mine. My niece claims I make the best burgers ever, zero reason to go out to eat!

    3
  20. 5 Guys – I LOVE The Fries. They far eclipse their burgers.

The burgers are better than the mass produced stuff but nothing too special.

  21. I will not eat at any rated after #8 on my rankings:
    1. Wayback Burgers Five Guys Burgers Johnny Rockets
    4. Whataburger Culver’s
    6. Hardee’s/Carl’s Jr Wendy’s
    8. Jack in the Box
    9. BurgerFi (way overpriced for so-so burger)
    10. Burger King
    11. Sonic Drive-In
    12. Checkers & Rally’s Krystal
    14. McDonald’s

  22. By far BEST for me IN-OUT

I eat 2 “double Double Animals” for lunch at least once a week.(could lathe be why I’m 80 lbs overweight?)
I put my mouth where my $ was.

    1
  23. There’s a Five Guys near me with signs proclaiming “Best Burgers in town” award…in 2009. I swear the fries tasted like they were made in 2009. Won’t ever go back.

  24. Worst burger in Georgia is at The Varsity. In fact, all of their food sucks, and they only exist due to some misbegotten college tradition. If you’re from out of town and come to Atlanta for a Georgia Tech game or whatever, don’t let your local friends drag you there. Ditto for the one by UGA in Athens.

  25. White Castle. How the heck could I forget their grease burgers that smell like burning hair. God awful things. I would rather eat Friskies canned cat food. There may be 1 or 2 around Columbus, OH and the grocery stores have them in the frozen section.

    1
  26. @Eugenia Oh yes, White Castle still exists in Columbus Ohio. One of the original ones is still in my old neighborhood. It’s been there 50+ years.

For Valentines Day, they put white tablecloths on the tables with a single rose in a vase. You have to make reservations. I’ll have to ask the BFF if they still do that since Covid happened. 🌹 🍔

  27. Isn’t it weird that one person’s pick for “best” is another’s pick for “worst”? Are people’s tastes that different, or is there some regional inconsistencies in the products?

    2
  28. I still hit white castle here in minnesota
4 cheese sliders and onion chips
my 13 yr old grandson likes it too.
    his grandmother hates white castle
    so I go without her.

    2
  29. Thanks Claudia! We had meetings every month at Leveque Tower and later Kimberly Parkway followed by the Air Center. One of my coworkers was always dragging me off to White Castle. There was still an Arthur Treachers near Kimberly Parkway to go with the drive by shootings at the office bldg.

  30. Laguna handmade hamburger, Laguna Pueblo NM very tasty.

Blake’s Lotaburger consistently voted the best green chile cheese burger here in Valencia county, NM.

  31. Anybody, repeat , anybody . . . that calls 5 Guys ‘Best’ is pushing well-done, and only well-done leather. If you do not understand what this means then you are part of the problem without even realizing it.

Try ordering a Medium , much less Rare , anything at any Corporate Franchise Cook By the Book regulated policy places.

    5 Guys? Nah

  32. Eugenia – Arthur’s Creatures – remember them well from the early 70s.
I’d have a platter for lunch and by 3 – 3:30 I’d be shaking like I hadn’t eaten anything at all!

  33. In Oregón and SW Washington we have Burgerville. They’re a little pricey, but, food is made after order is placed, with NW beef and “local” ingredients. I like the Tillamook Cheese Burger, or the halibut Fish and Chips. They have excellent milk shakes, too. Plus fresh strawberry shortcake during strawberry season.
They were the last to reopen for indoor dining after the fake plague. For that reason, I am no longer a customer.

  34. About 40 miles east of where I reside, there is a little town named Seymour, IN. There is a place on Indiana Hwy. 11 called Russell’s. Best double deckers in the universe! Big enough for 3 meals. The onion rings are only the best things ever! The place is still stuck in the 50’s, they still have the cute waitress’s on roller skates! If any of you ever have a mind to explore beautiful southern Indiana, pay them a visit, totally worth the trip!

  35. Growing up in northwest Indiana, White Castle was a staple. Was a frequent stop at 1:00 a.m. after a Friday night keg party. The double meat/double cheese hit pretty good.

Would probably make me sick now.

  36. If I were about to be executed, my last meal would be two Whataburger Sweet & Spicy Bacon Cheeseburgers. They have double beef patties and the sweet & spicy sauce is out of this world. If you have never tried one, you are missing out. Culvers ain’t bad.

    2
  37. @LocoBlancoSaltine-Louisville is my home town, too, and I am also a crazy white cracker. I worked at the Burger Chef on State Street in New Albany when I was age 16. When school started in September, I told the manager I needed to focus more time on my studies & would be leaving. He pulled me into his office & told me he would raise my pay from $1.25 an hour to $1.35 if I would stay, but I wasn’t allowed to tell any coworkers. Tempting, but I left. Looking back, maybe I could have been somebody. My grandmother lived in the Highlands a block from Cherokee Park, and the White Castle at Bardstown Rd and Eastern Pkwy was walking distance. Wonderful weekend treats for a naive grade schooler. You remember Lum’s?

Worst burger I ever tasted (excluding the one I ate in Havana, Cuba which could not have been meat) was Whataburger. They are grey and tasteless.

    2
  38. Hunter’s Drive In in Bloomfield, IN, home of the Hi Decker. Owned by Dave Hunter.
Now long gone, but what a great burger. I married Dave’s prettiest daughter, so I could be a little biased.

  39. Well, I’m washing lettuce right now. But soon I’ll be on fries, then the grill. A year or two, and I’ll make assistant manager, and that’s where the big bucks start rolling in.

  40. Hola 1harpazo! Yes to Blake’s Lot-A-Burger! Only in NM. Best burgers for at least 50 years. The Owl Bar, south of Socorro, where you turn off the interstate to go to Carrizoso. The Bobcat Bite on the Old Pecos Hwy between Santa Fe and Pecos (sadly, closed). Chope’s, in Mesquite NM south of Las Cruces. At least I ate well during my misspent youth!
